So reputable "insiders" on Tennessee message boards/twitter are going crazy right now saying that Jon Gruden will be the next coach at Tennessee. Also a buyout has been reached between Tennessee and Butch Jones. He'll "resign" after the Alabama game. Don't know how soon after that Jon Gruden will be announced.

This is what Albert Haynesworth tweeted this morning:

That Mr. Haslam he's talking about is Jimmy Haslam, billionaire owner of the Cleveland Browns, and the biggest booster at Tennessee. Apparently he's throwing Saban-esque money at Gruden.

All the "reputable insiders" agree on this thus far:

(1) Jon Gruden is the ONLY coach who has been contacted so far. He's John Currie's #1 target.
(2) Gruden has expressed interest back.
(3) Money will not be an issue. Jimmy Haslam has okayed paying Saban-esque money.
(4) A buyout has been reached between Butch Jones and Tennessee.

The only disagreement right now is some guys say the deal is done and Gruden has accepted while others are saying they are still negotiating.

Should be an interesting Sunday/Monday in Knoxville next week.

Anybody but you can say this
No I can say it. All the shyt you were talking about Auburn. Then talking cash shyt about LSU. Two losses right? Yup. Ya'll on track in getting your annual five loss season. It's a trend that has been going on since FSU crushed your Chip dreams. :mjlol:

FSU is having a down year after many good seasons. Auburn on the other hand is on their way to having a fourth piss poor season. I just hit you with the facts. :hubie:

Break the bank on a over rated coach that hasn't coached since 2009 brehs. I still just think he stays with ESPN. This is probably to get them to be dumb enough to give him 7 million a year instead of the 5 he is getting right now.

John Gruden:mjlol:

Well known reporters at Tennessee like Brent Hubbs (who were laughing at the notion of Jon Gruden to Tennessee just a few days ago) confirmed last night that Athletic Director John Currie and the major boosters like Jimmy Haslam have been in contact with Gruden. That they have made a "Saban-esque" offer to him not only in terms of salary but control. That he is still talking to them and hasn't said no.

Now they're also saying he hasn't said YES yet. But the fact all the big money boosters are behind this move and the fact Gruden is listening is good news.

Remember, his son goes to Tennessee. His wife is from East Tennessee. He owns land in Knoxville. And when he's not in Florida, he's living in Tennessee. Its not outlandish to think he will take the job.

So they gonna throw Saban money at someone who has never coached CFB and last job was in 2009? :dead:

If this fails too then Tenn may never recover

ESPN is financially falling apart. MNF ratings are plummeting. I think those could be factors in making the MNF gig not as attractive as it was 5 years ago. Also a few weeks ago Paul Finebaum reported that Gruden wants to get back into coaching. Finebaum talked about staying in the same hotel as Gruden last year and he needed to leave early to catch a flight one day and in the lobby at 4:30 AM he sees Gruden. He asks Gruden why he's up so early. Gruden says he always wakes up early cause he likes to watch film in the morning. So even though Gruden hasn't been coaching for 8 years he still prepares like a coach.

We'll see if these rumors amount to anything. I'm just letting ya'll know that "reputable" people that just a few days ago were laughing at the notion of Gruden to Tennessee are now saying its a possibility.

Jon Gruden had more success in the NFL than Nick Saban. :yeshrug:

I don't think he's forgotten how to coach. And he should attract top 5 recruiting classes easily. He's charismatic and well known. And the state of Tennessee is overflowing with instate talent right now. Also he should be able to put together a top notch coaching staff given his NFL connections. He'll also get his pick to top rated QBs every year cause of his QB Camp on ESPN making him so well known.

At the very least he'll make Tennessee respectable again like Harbaugh has done for Michigan. Whether he can win championships is another thing though.

I guess. But I think it would be dumb to get Gruden with other younger coaches out there. He hasn't coached in forever and he really isn't all that great. I mean if he can recruit real well than you will see a change. Gruden only coached top notch teams with talent. He never built one. I like the Tenn program and I just hope they are not making another mistake with coaches like they have in recent years.

FSU is on pace to continue being fukked by teams with a pulse, something that’s happened every single year under Jimbo without Jameis bailing the franchise out:mjlol: y’all on track to get blown the fukk out again and you’re on track to pretend like you nikkas matter, oh wait :russ:

B-b-but LSU lost to Troy

You nikkas aren’t on pace for a winning season :deadmanny: I rather lose directly to Troy than wake up knowing my team has no real business having a win this season :heh:
