It sucks that I'll be working tomorrow and through Thursday, so I won't be able to participate in the signing day discussions until well after.

My top 5 impact recruits for the University of Oklahoma Sooners (in no particular order)

  • Robert Barnes (S)- OU/ NFL legacy; son of Reggie Barnes. 6'3, 194lbs. Might be our new SS with Ahmad Thomas leaving (eligibility exhausted) Chip off the ole block.... he's a big hitter. Sound tackler as well as shows good coverage skills.
  • Adrian Ealy (OT) - 6'7, 285lbs. The eventual successor to Orlando Brown Jr when he leaves for the NFL next season. As they say, you really can't teach height, and at 6'7, he has it in spades, along with his reach. He will have the luxury to redshirt given the enormous depth Bill Bedenbaugh has built. Ealy is destined (barring injury) to become another great OU lineman that will be a NFL first rounder.
  • Charleston Rambo(WR) - 6'2, 172lbs. Another game breaking WR that fits the mold of OU's first Biletnikoff Award winner (and ironically shares the same number "11" as him too). Besides his talent, he has the dopest surname to recently come through the OU program. Hopefully, he lives up to that name.
  • Levi Draper (ILB) - 6'2, 215lbs. With the quandary that is OU's LB situation, quality ILB's have been hard to come by for OU. Luckily, Oklahoma produced a top 10 ILB recruit for the 2017 class and has been on campus since December. He'll need all the time given before the season starts because he, more than likely, be the projected starter to replace former 4 year Norman North(OK) walk-on Jordan Evans. Pretty big shoes to fill! The most important position, not only due to responsibility, but also the expectations of a college football playoff run and a national championship in Baker Mayfield's last season. Hopefully, Draper can keep continuity within the improved Sooner defense, then take it to the next level.
  • Grant Calcaterra(TE) - 6'4, 215lbs. Highly touted TE and the successor to Mark Andrews. From what I've seen, he has everything but the physical size, which can be improved on (also an early enrolee). Calcaterra's playing time will depend on whether he can put on the muscle mass that will allow him to be more effective in blocking as well as beating DB's.... and the play of Mark Andrews, which has been somewhat disappointing considering his ability. If Andrews starts slow in his senior season, then Calcaterra, along with Jermaine Hall, to get snaps. The smart thing for him to do is to take that redshirt because Andrews and Carson Meier are done after this season, however, Stoops will play the person who shows up in games; no upperclassmen favoritism.
