The Australian Olympic Committee is concerned that nine Australian athletes have been detained by Brazilian police after allegedly altering their accreditation to gain entry to the Boomers basketball game on Friday night.
An AOC spokesman confirmed that athletes from a number of sports - including cycling, rugby and rowing - were taken to a police station near the Olympic Park to be questioned by local authorities.Rio Olympics 2016: Australian athletes detained for alleged accreditation tampering

Once again nikka. :mjlol:

Terence Newman beat Justin Gatlin in college. :sas1:

Terence Newman chose to go be a top 5 pick in the NFL over a track sprinter career.

I wonder who made more money :sas2:

Yeah, Bo Jackson playing football was the right decision for him even though he almost died but for most playing football doesn't work out. People can bring up Terrance Newman. How about the other 15-20 corners and receivers in the Texas football program who never do anything with football. Who never progress past college. Who end up with severe damage to their knees or brain injuries.

A lot of our best athletes choose football but in hindsight if they are ANY GOOD at baseball even a little bit.. they should be focusing on that instead. guaranteed contracts for doing nothing and no contact.

Football always been my sport but even I know it's a waste for most and a big risk on top of it.

Last comment...it's also been A LONG ass time since the US had track athletes that were household names. If I went and asked 100 kids ages 5-10 if they wanted to run like justin Gatlin, 97 wouldn't know him. If I asked if they wanted to be cam newton or lebron....they're gonna say yes. When I was a kid, I knew flo jo, Joyner kersee, Carl Lewis on GP, Michael Johnson made "MJ" into a trifecta (Jackson and jordan). That does a lot to get people interested, when was the last time we had a T&F athlete with that level of notoriety? JA has ascended since Bolt stepped up/out....that's not coincidence.
Track athletes have never been house hold names. Nobody knows who the fukk Michael Johnson is or any of the other names for that matter :heh:

Bolt is just that rare exception

Everybody will go back to not giving a fukk about track now that Bolt is done

Breh, ain't nobody saying people sat around and talked about these people like lebron or jordan or curry, but they were household names. You didn't have to go to google if someone said "name a current american track star". Johnson had all sorts of commercials, i remember one where duke was running around the globe making it go in reverse...these were stars

Carl Lewis was an icon after '84. Sit down. Your ignorance is showing.

I legit had to wiki Carl Lewis. Forgot all about his ass :mjlol:

That should tell you everything really. If he truly was an icon I wouldn't need to search him up to remind myself :francis:

I'm pretty sure I won't need to search up 'Usain Bolt' in 20 years doe

Dudes are idiots for missing this point.

Most the cats I knew in high school ran track and played football, but the talented ones could really only focus on one sport when they hit college and most go for football. The money is too small and limited to too few athletes in track compared to even getting a few years in the nfl. If these cats stayed on the track path we'd be back. Jamaica literally has soccer and sprinting - 100 and 200 - that people work to perfect. Jamaicans aren't dominating other lengths or events (field...hurdles).

But whatever, men's team  tonight :heh:

Man you nikkas really trying to jump thru hoops to deny the simple fact Jamaica just might be better sprinting.

I'll add this. Jamaica has even more poverty and violence than the US. Less sporting infrastructure such as we have in our high school and college system. I would argue that there could also be many potential sprinting greats that fall thru the cracks in Jamaica and never reach their full potential.

Remember Usain Bolt never wanted to run track. He said he wanted to play cricket (which is the most popular sport in Jamaica). It was his parents and coaches that forced him. Even to this day he says he doesn't like training for track and only does it because he loves the reaction of the crowd to his performances.

You nikkas just need to accept the fact Jamaica is just better at sprinting than anyone else in the world. And we might never get an explanation of why this is the case.
