recruiting has actually been really on point since mussy arrived ... I thought it was gonna nosedive even further after Spurrier essentially left the cupboards bare.

Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops was not pleased that CFP chair and Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt noted publicly that "defense" was the reason the Sooners didn't make the playoff. "That was uncalled for. I didn't think it was needed," Stoops told reporters. "We lost two games at the beginning of the year. That would have been sufficient, to two really good teams (Houston and Ohio State." Stoops then fired a shot back at Hocutt's team. "That's all right. Tech hasn't played the best defense either, over the last what, the last 10 years? That kind of hurt coming from them."
