Brad Stevens has a better chance of Monroe playing up to his potential than here with the Lakers. From what I remembered, Monroe was a better as a PNR defender with Van Gundy, but he isn't a rim protector at all. I'm happy Ainge passed on Robert Upshaw, which let the Lakers swoop in to take him.

Positive is that he is would be asset that could be moved later. He is a nice passer and a post up threat, but he has no shot and his defense in today's NBA you can't hide bad defensive big men as much anymore.

Even with all the fukkery Upshaw was apart of, when he played, he was a lottery talent and the best shot blocking big man with the biggest wingspan in all of college basketball. Which made the Lakers taking Russell instead of Okafor even better because they got one of the most talented big men undrafted. Even with bad character concerns, you should take the chance to find out for yourself, and if he continues to slip, you just cut him off ASAP.
