Problem is Spurrier can coach his ass off...but he sucks at recruiting. That's always been a problem for him and currently they don't have anyone worth much at recruiting.

yea we sucked during the dooley era. he let all the great players leave the state. since 2014 (his first full recruiting cycle), butch has kept the top 2 players in the state. eventhough schools like ohio state, alabama, and lsu were after em. josh malone was supposedly going to ohio state or clemson before butch stepped in. kyle phillips was going to lsu. drew richmond was committed to ole miss and got strong interest from alabama. and so on.

butch's track record the last 2 years lets me think if he had a full year to recruit Jalen, he woulda gone to Tennessee.

Still a little salty about not getting Josh Malone at Clemson...but thanks for taking Marlin Lane off our hands...smh...nicca was nothing but trouble walking

There's quite a bit of programs that just enchant the right of talent. FL was blessed to be in the state they were and eventually the results spoke for themselves (when he was there). I thought the same would've happened for Spurrier here after the winning seasons but I guess not
