FYI for those who enjoyed watching my young Vols suffer thru all those close losses this year, just remember, Tennessee returns 18 starters in 2016. As well as 38 of 44 in its 2 deep.

The 2015 Vols were one of the youngest teams in the nation. 12 starters were freshmen or sophomores. 6 starters were juniors. And only 4 starters were seniors. None of those seniors being significant losses. In fact other than for 3 juniors (Josh Dobbs, Cam Sutton, and Jalen Reeves-Maybin) the rest of Tennessee's great players were freshmen and sophomores.

The fact we pushed 2 eventual playoff teams to the limit with a nucleus of freshmen and sophomores shows the level of talent this team has and it's promise. Those back to back top 5 recruiting classes are paying off. No other team in America played 2 playoff teams. And even with that brutal schedule, we dominated Oklahoma for 3 quarters building a 14 point 4th quarter lead and went toe to toe with Alabama for 48 minutes even taking a lead with 5 minutes left.

Tennessee lost 4 games (to elite competition) by a combined 17 points. They led by double digits in 3 of the 4 losses. They led in the 4th quarter in 3 of the 4 losses. This is literally a football team that is 3-4 plays away from being 11-1.

What you saw in 2015 was the trial run of a future championship team. We suffered some devastating losses this year because of youth and lack of experienced depth. That won't be an issue next year. After we throttle Northwestern, expect us to be a preseason top 10 team next year and a media favorite to be a darkhorse playoff team. The future is bright on rocky top.

Tennessee Vols = 2016 national champs

Temper your expectations. At this point, if Tennessee wins the SEC east, then they should consider next season successful. I don't see a playoff run with a healthy Dobbs as your QB.... Sorry.

I do know if Georgia and Florida finishes better than you (and/or you lose to them), Butch will be ran out of town next season. No excuse for a restructuring Georgia or a Florida without their best QB (who will still be suspended for most of next season; Harris is beyond trash) winning the SEC (division or conference title).

Did they change it to New Year's Eve this year because of the Rose Bowl?

Yeah the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl are always on New Year's Day.

Under the TV contracts with ESPN that predate the College Football Playoff, both the Rose and Sugar bowls are guaranteed exclusive TV time slots on January 1 (or January 2 if New Year's Day falls on a Sunday), regardless of whether they are hosting a semifinal game

49-13 Vols. We put in the backups midway in the 3rd saving Northwestern from an all-time butt whopping.

This'll be Iowa all over again.

I got Tennessee by 2 scores Northwestern cant keep up offensively

Tennessee remind me of FSU in 2011 young team playing big games and getting experience. That Florida loss cant happen butch himself cost yall 2 games same way jimbo cost us 2 games in 11.

I think the talent for UT will be too much for NW but we'll see. Dobbs, Hurd, Berry, Reeves-Maybin, Barnett, one of those guys are gonna have huge games.

Agreed. 10 wins and making it to Atlanta are the minimum for expectations in 2016. Making it to the playoffs takes some luck (see Michigan State) but we should have the pieces.

Dobbs is a national title caliber QB. Hurd and Kamara might be the best RB duo in the country next year. Great o-line returning 4 of 5 staters. D-line that is 12 deep with quality sec lineman. Maybe the best lb duo in the sec with Reeves-Maybin and Kirkland. Solid secondary. And the best special teams in America.

I see no weaknesses on our roster next year. All we need is some good luck on injuries, our kicker to lose the yips, and we get to Atlanta with a maximum of 1 loss. Then it's all about beating Alabama or LSU to get into the playoffs.

Same shyt you said coming into this season. Same shyt you'll spit this time next year and the year after. As long as Butch your coach, you'll have these underachieving ass seasons.

Yup. The loss to Florida was Butch Jones fukkin up. The loss to Oklahoma was lack of depth to close out a game against a quality opponent. Alabama was simply being beaten by a better team. They made the big plays at the end to beat us.

Arkansas was a result of the Florida hangover. Kids tuned out Butch after his debacle in Gainesville. It took the comeback against Georgia for them to regain faith in Butch Jones.

Actually if we don't win it all in 2016, you won't see me spitting shyt in 2017. Alot of the best players on our roster will be graduating (Dobbs/Sutton/Reeves-Maybin) or going to the pros early (Hurd/Barnett) after 2016. This championship run was always gonna be a 2 year window (2015-2016).

We'll have a rebuilding year in 2017 with a RS freshmen QB and many new faces. We'll still have lots of talent but like FSU this season, the talent will be young. A 9-3 season in 2017 is likely.

If we won it all this year then it would be winning a title a year too early like Ohio State last year. 2016 was always the target year.

Don't forget Kamara as well. But yeah I expect a huge day offensively. We should be able to exploit our superior speed and athleticism. Especially on special teams. Berry and/or Sutton might get a return TD.
