You can run and compete outta lane 9. Outta lane 1 is just too fuked up, its the same distance but to have to run out of that staggerd for 300 meters is all bad. It changes the way you run too much. The 400 is the hardest race. Ive done everything in my track career(competed in the decathlon at the junior olympics when i was 16) and that shyt when you get done is the worst. Even after losing a bet and having to run the 3200 in a dual meet in high school, it wasnt as bad.

Yeah you can but historically it always the lanes inside of that that win the big races.

Has anyone ever won out of lane 1?
When lane assignments are given, is it random or do people have choices?
