So what are you now, the west coast sympathizer or something? Since you say "we" then I'm assuming you're a Ny'er. When these nikkas talk shyt about NY, YOUR ass is included too and they couldn't care less whether you're one of the fair and balanced ones or not. Yeah there's always been some bias from NY obviously, but at the same time nikkas was bumping Pharcyde, Ice Cube, Souls Of Mischief, Dre, and had mad love for them. I remember when some of these rappers used to come over to NY and kick it with no problems. Everybody from NYC wasn't on some biased shyt. If hip hop started out west, they would probably be even more biased.

In all the years I seen way more animosity directed towards NY from the west coast than we have ever expressed towards them. Twenty years later nikkas still can't let go. I mean damn, Kay Slay can go out to cali hoods and damn near show love to everybody, yet west coast nikkas still find a reason to hate. You just have to look around the this forum and everywhere else on the net. shyt, I've seen nikkas crack jokes at an 8 year old girl's death in one thread just because the kid happened to be from NY. That's how deep their hatred goes - all over some music shyt. So tell me who the real haters are?

Man, you know people on the internet can be dikkheads, I don't take them serious like that.

Like I stated for the most part it was hate from us. Yeah, we were cool with a few, but for the most part the average ny hip hop listener used to dis the west. Especially the hardcore hip hop heads who would listen to stretch & bobbito, wnyu, the underground railroad, pirate radio before it became future flavors(marley marl & pete rock)and other shows on 105.9. Yes, I loved hip hop, and saw the bias. shyt, I was part of it, until I woke up. In the early '90's it was REALLY biased for the most part. It was until the mid-late 90's that shyt changed.

LOL who shytted on NY? Snoop? The same nikka that's been backtracking ever since and swore on everything holy he was never on some beef shyt with New York always had nothing but love for east when he gets called out on it? The same nikka who himself said he would never risk his life in NYC and talk shyt (after getting damn near killed in the trailer for that corny ass NY,NY bullshyt track). Or you talking about Kurupt who supposedly "destroyed" 300 invisible dudes in a freestyle battle who was later in a group with Killah Priest and Canibus?

Fuk outta here and stop riding the west coast's dikk, fakkit ass b-more nikka.

Yo I must have missed this interview. So let me get this straight. Snoop just said Biggie could easily got Pac Lyrically but choose not to? Isn't that we many of us on the Eastcoast have been saying for 15 years?

if biggie could easily shut pac down, why did he try to recruit a bunch of help to diss pac?:ahh:

actions speak louder than words.

btw, biggie did more to make a east/west war out of this than pac.

I don't know how old you are but the NY establishment from the magazines to radio etc all had a heavy NY bias

Cats selling 200,000 records were getting more love than multi platinum artists from Cali

Brand Nubian was getting more love than platinum acts like Breed and Quik

Believe what u wanna believe tho

Breed was a platinum act? :pachaha: Check again breh...

And truth is, sure NY leaned closer to acts from NY, the good ones anyway... but you act like that's the only place that happened. Like if there was an awards show in Cali, the people from Cali wouldn't have naturally been more inclined to root for Cali artists. :usure:

The good music from Cali always got props from the Source. I can say that because I started reading it in '91 and had pretty much every issue until like '02. So this is why a nikka can't pop up talkin' about they always gave bad ratings to Cali nikkas cause that ain't true, or that they hated the West when I know they stayed givin' props to them (and even sometimes got letters from NY readers accusing them of dikkriding the West)... I can't speak for what all of NY did, or what nikkas did on the radio. I'm not saying nobody was shyttin' on the West or nothin' like that. I'm sure there were people doin' it. I'm sure there wasn't as much play for artists like Quik as there was for Brand Nubian at some point. BUT I'm also pretty sure that once the West Coast scene got big, nikkas weren't over there bumpin' Mobb Deep's shyt all heavy either, so come on with all the :sadcam: "booo hooo, they hated on us". It's like watching a Knicks game at MSG and being mad cause they got cheered over the Lakers- the fukk did you think was gonna happen?

Yeah... so?

Reasonable Doubt- 4 mics
Resurrection- 3 1/2 mics
Dah Shinin'- 3 mics

see how easy that is?

you would have a point if:

if reasonable doubt was doggystyle
if resurrection was e.99 eternal
if da shinin was ice cream man

these albums aren't equals.

Matter of opinion... I'm pretty sure there's some people who like Dah Shinin' and don't give a shyt about the Ice Cream Man album... I'm just givin' examples of other albums that have been called classic by some, that also didn't get the big rating.

Point is, the supposedly East Coast-biased mag (particularly during the mid-90s) was stingy as shyt about giving out 5's... and at a certain point they weren't givin' it to ANYBODY. East, West, Midwest, or South. So why is the opinion that there was a bias against the West, when their shyt got treated just the same as everybody else's did? And all the while, it's not like a 5 was the only good rating possible. Anything rated 3.5 and up was usually regarded worth a buy. And seeing something get a 4.5 was damn near just like seeing a 5, cause you knew immediately it was a must-have (well, except for when they gave it to Made Men but that's much later when Benzino started goin overboard with the fukkery).

One thing I'll say about those ratings tho'... they sure knew what they were doing when they created that system, cause that shyt stirred up feelings like no other. Even 20 years later, nikkas talkin' about it :whew:
