baseball was bigger than both until the lockout and roids and we all know what happened there. Also, I feel like none of this would be happening if the pandemic didn't happen. The NBA had much better ratings 5 and was much closer 6 or 7 years ago.

NBA problems are fixible and have still matched the NFL outside of the US. Willpower needs to happen to fix it.

yup if they dont want to adjust :yeshrug:

next year they should aim for christmas eve

For what?

Then what happens when Netflix decides to give the NFL another $100 million to run games on Christmas Eve when it’s on Wednesday next season? Or when it lands on a Thursday the year after that

I think adjusting the league’s schedule on a whim every year to hide from the NFL like Omar coming makes Silver look more cowardly than anything. The people who want to watch the NBA will watch it

Just looked at the schedule and they still have their Thursday game tomorrow, but now three games on Saturday, and the Sunday slate and Monday Night Football. Still, they couldn't take Wednesday/Christmas off:hhh: That's grimey brehs :picard:

Disappointed in Silver too. The NFL will do whatever they want, but start standing up for your product. Get a hold of the negative talk from their broadcast partners. Its not just Inside The NBA, Barkley and Shaq are on podcast and other shows sh*tting on the league. Highlight the smaller markets as well as the big markets. Get Blake Griffin and fresh faces for Amazon and NBC and start to move away from the negative bad light crew that's giving everyone else the green light to sh*t on the league.

He let the broadcaster shyt talk go on for too long to put that toothpaste back in the tube. The NBA audience speaks about the league in the same way now so fixing that is too far gone now. The rest of the things might be fixable if he gets aggressive. I've always thought the NBA should start later in the year and take over the summer.

They still have the international market that the NFL doesn't have, but still need to come up with a new vision stateside. NFL will always be number one in America, but start fresh with Amazon & NBC, get some solid programming on NBA TV, move on from promoting Bron & Curry respectfully, cut the narrative of its broadcast partners saying star players in small markets need to leave, fix the three ball problem, etc. Get a new vision beyond "who he play for" and calling teams dumb and letting that be the standard. It used to be just side jokes and in good fun, but now it's the main marketing plan and go to dialog. They got billions upon billions, so money is no issue. It's just them stepping on some toes and egos to cut the crap and wanting to move on from the old guard trashing the product on a daily basis.
