EA’s take away from Dragon Age’s flop was it should have been a live service game after all. Dragon Age convinced them players don’t want that. Seems doubtful they go pure single player with BioWare’s next (and probably last chance) game.

In some alternate world Microsoft doesn’t let EA swoop in and buy BioWare just to kill it.

ME 3 had a multiplayer that was successful. I don’t see why the next ME can’t have both a good single player campaign and a multiplayer

EA chief financial officer Stuart Canfield echoed Wilson's statement in his own comments on Veilguard: "Historically, blockbuster storytelling has been the primary way our industry has brought beloved IP to players. The game's financial performance highlights the evolving industry landscape and reinforces the importance of our actions to reallocate toward our most significant and highest potential opportunities."

Baulder’s Gate 3, Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnorak; Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 and DLC… these are blockbuster storytelling games, no? How did they perform in the industry?

Perhaps Veilguard’s financial performance highlights opportunities within the realm of blockbuster storytelling that EA missed to boat on.

Or maybe they shouldn’t have wasted resources on dragon age in the first place

Does Dragon Age even have a huge following like that, how did the previous games do sales-wise?

I was intrigued by the previews but never got around to copping because my backlog is crazy atm

Would've never gave this a 2nd look though if it was a live-service game

And did Veilguard really flop or did EA had way too high expectations for it?

It was something to do separately from the main storyline which is cool and gives people the choice. But this sounds entirely like a live action game that they wanted. Dragon age and Mass effect are known for their lore and storylines. The live action games all have vague and non existent stories. Unless they go the mmo route like kotor or final fantasy did it will be dead on launch

Doubt it "flopped"

Suits probably wanting ridiculous returns.

edit: Sales are around 1.5 million, they projected double. Yeah, it flopped.
Yeah that seems like some good numbers to me. We gotta figure out what exactly is considered a commercial success and what's not. I'm still annoyed about the prince of persia being considered a failure and it was one of the better Ubisoft titles in years!
