Episode was alright, best part to me was the ending when they actually did the news gathering. Honestly the news gathering and research scenes after a story is hit are possibly the only bright spot throughout all 4 episodes.
Even worse than the second episode?
No. The second episode is the worst. Philly and I will have to disagree on that. This episode was annoying mainly because there was a bunch of filler. The bigfoot shyt was terrible and not funny, the dates were so annoying I wanted to throw water on him, and I'm pretty sure that the OG newsman (I don't remember anyone's names yet) was supposed to be slyly funny by correcting will about the characters on that show, but it was still lame.
Is Sorkin always this terrible in his attempts at comedy?
disagree

this show redeemed itself
I thought it was great how they played with baseless opinions last night.
The woman he brought home thought having a gun made her safer. Her opinion isn't grounded in any evidence. Same with the one he was having dinner with. She had no evidence for her opinions about the reality star. These opinions are formed by liars like rush limbaugh, glenn beck, and the gossip columnist.
But Neal, whose opinions about bigfoot are on the surface ridiculous, at least ensures his ideas are research based.
The bigfoot thing wasn't filler or unnecessary. It was a counter point to the more dramatic action of the episode.
The flaw in this argument: there's a demand for guns and gossip. Guns make people feel safer. No evidence is going to change that feeling. Reality shows and gossip make people feel better. Are our lives affected by Britney doing something dumb? Of course not, but its a recourse from the daily stress of life for many people to know that rich people have problems too. Sometimes, people would rather hear about the Kardashians than Will ranting about the Tea Party. Doesn't make them stupid. Media and television are big enough so that both gossip and world news can both exist.
Nobody cares about Bigfoot. Where he comes from, where he lives, if he exists; nobody cares about any of it.
