The Newburgh Sting -- The FBI entraps 4 black men into a terrorist plot

So this documentary aired on HBO about a year ago but I didn't see it until today.

Basically, the FBI used an informant to try and infiltrate a mosque in Newburgh, NY.

The informant entrapped 4 black men into committing a terrorist plot in the Riverdale area of the Bronx, then spread lies about the men....saying they hate America and met each other in prison. Mostly the men only agreed to take part because they were offered $250,000. One of the men was involved because of his brother's medical bills. And another guy has a mental disability.

The 4 were found guilty and their appeal was denied.
They're seeking to take their case to the Supreme Court.

Highly, highly recommended viewing.

I remember that case being all over the news and I remember thinking like no way regular nikkas are getting involved with these terrorist plots.

It's crazy how no matter what....they always find a way to do some wrong shyt to us. No matter what. How crazy is that?...one day your chilling on the corner and the next day you're labeled a terrorist. Those worlds seems so far apart and yet they find a way to bring it right to your front doorstep.

I have a friend who's related to the kid who tried to do that bombing in Oregon a couple years ago and it's crazy how the FBI set up that poor kid. My friend told me his cousin was a drug addict who nobody took serious but the FBI tried to portray him as some kind of master mind terrorist. Why not help these delusional people instead of entrapping them into propaganda

Hold up though, it was definitely 100% entrapment, but it wasn't "one day sitting on the corner the next day you're a terrorist"

This is lazy thinking on your part.

The reality is the government used poor, mentally ill and underprivelidged people, in dire circumstances to stage a false threat. They manipulated desperate people to create a story to add to their narrative. But the people did go along with it, the saddest part was the leader of the 4 misleading his fellow neighbors in this,

FBI used him, he used the underlings and all in all it was disgusting 100% and shows why you should never trust this government, ever.

All of them should have faced some sort of charge, aside from the mentally ill man, but nothing like they were slapped with. But really FBI should face the biggest charge for entrapment, coercion and conspiracy themselves

There is plenty of help out there for people with mentall illness, i been in the field ever since college. That isn't the issue.

The issue is how corrupted and sick are these organizations (FBI, CIA, NSA, TSA etc...) that they manipulate these people with illnesses and weaknesses to create their narrative of terrorism at home

The mothers telling the story in the documentary was sad. That shyt is real life for them.

Beacon used to be bad, but now it's one of the biggest upcoming cities in the Hudson Valley.

It's been revamped and honestly, a bit too many hipsters. But a lot of people from the city or who work in the city have moved to Beacon. To me it reminds me of New Paltz a bit (my hometown) in a way that it's very small townish with plenty of local shops and not so many chains (much moreso than NP actually). The bars are a bit too hipsterish for me though
