It was way ahead of its time. I was a kid when this dropped abs didn’t understand it but still enjoyed some cuts on there. That ye produced song is hard and if this dropped in ‘20-now it would be fresh because rappers are doing this now but it was rare 20 years ago

His personal experiences in the industry kinda let him towards a darker sound/expression and I liked where he took it.

I am comfortable and I love you
Thread reminds me, is there anyone who recycles beats other peoples beats more than Mos?

Going back to his first group, they rhymed on Diamond D's Stunts Blunts and Hip Hop intro.
BOBS he rhymed on Who Shot Ya, and the original version of Brooklyn was all other peoples beats (Incarcerated Scarfaces/Give Up the Goods)
The New Danger he Rhymed on Takeover, and No Ideas Original
True Magic he's rapping on Nolia Clap and Liquid Swords
The Ecstatic had a bunch of Oh No/Madlib beats from albums they already put out

The only rapper that might be more egregious with this is Busta :mjlol:

The New Danger was a dope album in it's own right its just that Black on Both sides was such a seminal album it just set such a high standard that Mos could never reach again.

and I honestly think, Yasiin is the type of artist that likes to challenge himself and he did just that with The New Danger

The New Danger threw a lot of fans of Black On Both Sides for a loop, cause it was a culmination of different genres rolled into one

but to me, Yasiin is so talented, he pulls it off. He can do a Hip Hop song and then turn around and then do a Rock song and then a more R&B song singing and then pick right back up with a Hip Hop song.

He's just THAT talented
