The New Danger was one of the most disappointing albums in rap history

It kinda gets lost in the shuffle because it came out the same year an Eminem’s encore which was a complete disaster but this was bad and this man had us wait 5 years for this nonsense :mjlol:

People was ready for the follow up mos Def album after BOBS and he gives us this :deadrose:

You know it’s bad when the pitchfork hipster crowd which usually worships this man was like nah this is trash too bro:russ:

I think maybe every album after that was disappointing. I liked that album though. Modern Marvel is one of my favorite songs by him

true magic makes this one look fine in comparison but they both mostly suck

mos was a great rapper but he wanted to be a great progressive blues musician and he wasn't cut out for it

d'angelo took 10 years off to learn to play the guitar, he knew what he was making. mos just seemed to want to not be seen as a rapper anymore

ecstatic was excellent though

Went to see Mos this summer opening for Erykah Badu.
Was reminiscing about how after Black Star, BOBS and the various Rawkus songs I had Mos at or near the top of my list.
Fast forward 20 some years and starting with The New Danger he never released another project that I even found decent, culminating in the new Black Star album that even with my extremely low expectations somehow managed to be worse than I expected. Lol.
Shocking.
Still love Mos though and he was very good live.

It's a very good album that leans closer to the experimental tracks on the first album (Rock n Roll, Climb, etc) than the boom bap people wanted. Basically since it's not a 1:1 replication of that album, people were thrown off and didn't sit with it IMO. There are multiple tracks of Mos spitting on there so it's not like he fell off rap wise.

Also gotta mention this, which was on the promo but not the album. Classic track:

This was on that Biker Boyz OST. Movie was complete trash but this song was and still is amazing.
