Full Court Press
Just in time for the 2014 NBA season, former Bad Boy Records executive Shannon “Slam” Ridley taps Future, Sean Garrett, Rocko and Toronto Raptors player Lou Williams for ‘Airtime,’ a song appearing on ‘Full Court Press Vol. 1,’ an album featuring some of hip-hop’s finest sharing the mic alongside basketball stars.

‘Airtime,’ led by a bass-heavy beat complete with turn-up appropriate ad-libs like “hey,” is an ATL mash-up and tribute to Williams’ former team, the Atlanta Hawks. Rocko goes for the jump shot on the hook and Future kicks off the first verse on this basketball-themed track, setting the scene getting “flyer than a Hawk.”

Meanwhile, Williams proves he can drop buckets and bars, as he comes through with a speedy verse. “Lou Will vill / The Hawks is in the building / and when No. 3 shake in / Turn up, turn up, turn up to the ceiling,” he raps. Leave it up to Sean Garrett to bring it home for the win, rhyming, “Come kiss my ring, I was born to be a champion.”

‘Airtime’ is the second release from Ridley’s ‘Full Court Press Vol. 1,’ following the uplifting ‘I’m A Champion’ featuring T-Pain, Dorrough, Shawn Marion and Young Cash. The nine-track album is all about inspiration and was initiated to inspire and encourage young boys. “I understand the power of hip-hop on American culture… I felt like if I can get some NBA players, write some clean, inspiring rhymes, get the world’s greatest rappers on this album with all clean messages, I could put something together that’s really unique,” Slam shared.

The LP features collaborations between rhymers and NBA stars including Stephen Jackson, Iman Shumpert, Glen Big Baby Davis, Maino, Royce Da 5’9”, Gudda Gudda, Lamar Odom and Soulja Boy, among others.

‘Full Court Press Vol. 1’ will be available for digital download in December.
