Jason Statham Drops Out Of DAREDEVIL Negotiations After News Of His Involvement Leaked?
121393.jpg

This is the problem with rumours. According to a new report, Jason Statham was indeed in negotiations to play Bullseye in the second season of Marvel and Netflix's Daredevil, but yesterday's leak has apparently killed the deal. What went wrong? Hit the jump for details...

Rumours are great and all, but there's a serious downside to them when it comes to casting in particular. Yesterday, Latino-Review revealed that Jason Statham was in talks to play Bullseye in season two of Daredevil, news which was met with an overwhelmingly positive response from fans.

According to Bloody Disgusting, the British actor "was legitimately in heavy negotiations for the role and the leak killed it. Perhaps his agent saw the positive uproar and instantly upped the actor’s asking fee? Perhaps the studio spotted the same excited reaction and preemptively killed the deal out of fear of Statham’s management going for more money? Who knows. The bottom line is that yesterday the Crank star was at the top of the list and deep in negotiations and today Marvel has moved on to other pastures." Each of those possible theories make perfect sense.

There's nothing to say he would have definitely landed the role of course, but this seems awfully similar to what happened with Joaquin Phoenix and Doctor Strange last year. Collider jumped the gun by reporting that the actor had landed the role, everyone got excited, and the deal suddenly fell apart. It's doubtful that Statham's recent comments about Marvel movies have anything to do with this, and he may have in fact made those because his Bullseye would have brought something different to that world in terms of practical fight scenes. Now though, I guess we'll never know!

FINALLY finished this up yesterday along with house of cards. last episode was dope. only frustrating thing was it took the entire season for him to FINALLY get his proper uniform. that under armour bootleg uniform with a t-shirt wrapped around his head was not hot in the streets. :mjlol:

funny because storyline wise once I saw the suit I knew what was up and was like :gladbron: but visually it looked a little goofy (the mask more than anything)

According to Birth Movies Death sources, Marvel is having some issues on where exactly they want to take the character. The rumor is that the company has brought in a whole slew of people to pitch ideas, and have had plenty discussion on the series, but nothing has yet to stick. One of the major hold-ups in direction is the mystical elements of Iron Fist. There are too many different opinions on just how much of those magics Marvel wants to bring to the show. If this proves to be true, it is understandable there be a hold up on mystical elements. One of the major reasons Daredevil was so successful was that it was gruesomely grounded. The fight scenes were gritty and intense, but seemingly realistic. Even the way the show goes about Matt Murdock’s heightened senses never really goes out of the realm of reality.
