I’ll never forget this anime that mind fukked me. Started watching it on Netflix and it appeared innocent but then we find out that the entire reality/existence that our world is is a simulation created by a advanced society who essentially got bored because they created an Obelisk that could grant ANY wish. So bored there was mass suicides (what’s the point of a life where anyone could simply wish and ask for anything and have it right?).
So they created machines that their bodies would remain in while their consciences would “dive” into what we know as life here. Kind of similar to The Matrix in a way.

Title of the show was Heaven’s Lost Property... also alluding to more esoteric business.
