so you already exposed yourself as being ignorant to the real.

as many would never understand paying ten dollars plus for an import mag.

yet the reason why it was important.

was it gave the worldly perspective of how untainted the culture was in another land.

away from commercialism,..and staying true.

to the real cultural history of hiphop.

this sounds like something a writer from HHC would say. I used to read them back in the day but they positioned themselves as a holier than thou magazine yet i seen them put commercial acts they hated in principle on their covers to sell magazines. hypocrites basically. plus a lot of their writers were the original white hip hop head/hipster. As Combat Jack so eloquently termed these type of people, Wigsters. Wigger plus Hipster. Someone like a Peter Rosenberg is a seed of them. I can't take arrogant opinions on a black culture from privileged cacs. they need to come at this ish with some humbleness. sorry. I rather read ya Greg Tates, Harry Allens etc.

"IWW" shyts all over "Ready To Die". Besides that "Ready To Die" was pretty gritty as well. Biggie's most popular songs were R&B jacks and the most succesful of them all wasn't even on the album.

Haha just say you wasn't around back then and leave it that. The R and B tracks are the ones that get the most play on old school mixes now, but trust in the hip-hop radio, Warning and Unbelieveable were the go-to tracks.

Also the One More Chance remix was really a B-Side and I do not consider that an official track off the album.

Hip-Hop Connection was a great magazine and despite their disdain toward commercial artist, I felt their reviews were even handed.

I don't think he's built properly to provide classic material anymore. He can certainly keep dropping listenable albums. I don't ever see myself loving a Nas album again though. If this is the closest he can come then he's still way off for my tastes.


A song like 'world I an addiction' should never have even been recorded its so bad. I can forgive generic shyt like summer on smash as radio pandering but he tried to make a statement with that Hamilton shyt and failed miserably.

Yea, I kinda feel the same way, I think he has moments of brilliance as opposed to just dropping pure heat. Nas will never make another timeless album (though I still think he's capable) but I also think that may be for the best. Another Illmatic level album would be too much for today's hip-hop and I think the world would explode lol.

Plus I also think Nas negotiates his albums under the table or something with the powers that be. I felt that way about Untitled, like Nas watered down his own concept or something.

That being though Nas is somewhat coasting, he may have still put out the best album this year.
