Not everybody gets $50Ms, and there's already been a mostly positive response from players on it thus far.

Draymond who's one of the most competitive guys in the league is for it.

The ones that change the course of the game (superstars, and even mid-stars) are the ones not playing, and making $50M.

There doesn't need to be a reward for winning the in-season tournament. If having the better record throughout the season isn't incentive enough, why should this "tournament" matter towards anything?

Be one of the top 3 teams and have one of the 4 best records for your conference and you get home court. There's no need to over complicate things.

People been complaining about the regular season being diminished, that's why they're doing this. The 500K bonus isn't going to cut it over time as the only incentive for players or fans especially.

I like this idea. The NBA has to do something to give incentive for the average fan to care. There's absolutely no point to this tourney if the only prize is players get an extra 500k. Why the fukk would anyone care about these dudes getting an extra paycheck :skip:

I really don't like the idea of given a team any advantage over a handful of games as opposed to being consistent over 82 of them.
It really wouldn't be that crazy the way I'm proposing. And in some cases, it may not even convey depending on who wins the tournament and who they end up playing in the playoffs.

Right now, with the Play-In, the 7 or 8 seed after 82 games can miss the playoffs entirely. That's more extreme than my idea.

Yeah tbh the way you broke it down indeed isn't crazy...but it could still give an advantage to the team who wins the tournament.

And I'm against the play-in anyway. Yes, it brought us fun games, but the very idea of it still irks me. Like you said, a team that has been consistent enough over 82 games to be in the playoffs can lose it all over the span of two or three games.

Why are people obsessed with the incentives "mattering". These are just regular season games at the end of the day
So far the players care, and as time goes on *maybe* the fans will care too. I think we will be surprised at the energy surrounding the single elimination portion of the tourney

Why would the fans ever care about random regular season games with zero stakes?

This is the real problem in the NBA. How can you be a "fan" and not care about the games lmao. How can you say that a RS game has "zero stakes" when it's literally the RS that determines if you go to the playoffs or not and at with which seeding.

Used to be that fans and players didn't need "incentives" to appreciate and be invested in the game.

How? By not being some hardcore loser dweeb with nothing going on to keep up with an 82 game season while I spend 1k+ a year on tickets going to games. That's how goofy. Good job being more invested in sports than me, here's your cookie.

And yeah, no I'm not gonna give af about some random December games when teams play an entirely different level of basketball in February/March. The players getting 500k? Who gives af. :camby:

Used to be you had to watch what was on when it was on or you missed it...couldnt even get up to piss unless it was a commercial. Times change. Peoples attention spans have never been shorter and their options for entertainment have never been greater.

Beyond that the NBA has done this to itself. Used to be an 82 game marathon of a season and then a sprint of a postseason. They kept adding teams and rounds to where the actual participants became :manny: about the regular season. All those where done to get fans more invested btw. If they arent gonna cut games, rounds, or playoff participants you gotta do something to make a random game in November matter and no colorful courts, cute commercials, and random trophies aint gonna do it.

Fukk no! Why play 82 games if 6-8 games would determine that. Get rid of this shyt entirely and go back to 8 team playoffs.

Silver if a doof with these dumb ass tournaments and play in games
:unimpressed:
