This.because football is gang shyt.
NFL viewership didnt drop with the end of the Patrioita dynasty. :mjloll:NBA Peak - Bulls Dynasty
NFL Peak - Patriots Dynasty
MLB Peak - Yankees Dynasty
People don’t want parity, they just think they do whenever a dynasty arrives because they’re player haters, and that itself is the paradox of the sports viewer
Basketball like hockey and soccer are free flowing sports. Non stop action and moves and when you watch a game, you have to pay attention during the entire game to understand, feel and appreciate it. There are too many things to notice in and keep in mind during a typical basketball game (you have to notice, observe, recognize and memorize the patterns, styles of play, strategies, in game adjustments, tactics of both teams) You have to keep up with the flow of the game too, watching basketball is like watching a movie, you have to watch it entirely to have a full grasp of it. If you miss the first two thirds of it, you won’t understand the end and why and how it ended up that way. But according toOut of the 3 major sports, basketball is probably the hardest to casually follow.
Football is slow paced and has multiple replays after each play so you can fully grasp what happened and why.
Baseball, even more simple to consume. They hit it and the other team didn't catch it? Good. They swung and missed? Bad.
Basketball, though....the score can be 15-17, you get up, go outside to fart, come back inside and the score is suddenly 35-19. You might only get one replay of the flashiest play in that run and you still might not know exactly what happened. You gotta be locked in the entire time dang near to fully grasp a basketball game. Plus free throws are boring as shyt to watch unless they're clutch.
Only reason I can tolerate it is because I know the pure amount of talent it takes to perform in the NBA. It's more than all the other major leagues.
I don’t mind blowouts in basketball . I hate them in soccer, football, baseball and hockey.
Blowouts and huge leads in basketball are the results of teams exploding offensively and going off. Whether as a neutral fan or a invested fan, it’s still fun to see teams with elite shooting, floor spacing, passing, playmaking on court awareness, vision, offensive creativity and ball movement completely killing the hopes of their enemies and putting the games away. In other team sports it’s pointless, boring and frustrating to see blowouts because offensive scoring and production isnt as frequent and consisten like in basketball. It’s inherent to these sports because offensive production in football/hockey/soccer/baseball is suspectible to variance. In basketball, offensive production is both more stable and more prolific. Displays of offensive explosion are rare in other sports while in basketball, it’s frequent enough.
And the scoring in baseball/football/hockey/soccer is more volatile and variable by nature. When it comes to basketball, it’s the opposite, scoring in basketball is more consistent, stable and predictable. You can predict and project more or less, how many assists/ points/rebounds/possessions a player will have in basketball from game to game. You can’t predict and project with the same certainty and accuracy, how many goals a hockey forward will score or how many touchdowns a tight end or a running back will score from game to game. Same thing goes for a hitter in baseball, you don’t know how many hits/homeruns he will get from game to game, because some touchdowns become field goals. Some hits become line drive outs, failed bunts, fly ball outs and « slow roller to first » outs. Some home runs become foul balls and warning track outs. In soccer/hockey, some goals hit the goalpost and bounce away into the corner or someone else just cant get in the front of the net and score on the second rebound. Scoring Events in those sports are intermittent . In basketball they are consistent and happen regularly. Elite shooters in basketball are more regular, precise, accurate, and consistent than elite offensive players in other sports.
Even the best defensive teams in the nba can only hold teams to 70-90 points. There are no shut-outs in basketball. Basketball is a free flowing sport with guaranteed ball possessions with many opportunities to shoot and score. In other sports, scoring opportunities to score are rarer.
Completely shutting down opposing offenses is a thing that exists in other sports. In baseball/hockey/football/soccer, elite defenses prevent other teams from scoring completely, and as a result opposing teams score zero points, touchdowns, goals and hits. Goaltenders in hockey and soccer register shutouts, pitchers in baseball throw no hitters. And physical, grinding, smothering, intimidating defenses in football make sure their opponents score 0 points in the game (zero touchdowns and field goals)
In the modern era, (after the GSW/Curry 3-point revolution of 2015-16) even the lowest scoring teams/weakest offenses in the NBA can score 100 points or more in half of their games. Maybe more than half of their games. Basketball is naturally a higher scoring sport than the other sports ego are inherently low scoring because not msny factors. Hockey and soccer teams have goalies. Baseball teams have pitchers and catchers. Football teams have specialized defensive rosters. basketball all your five starters play the entire game and play both on offense and on defense. Offensive Stars(scoring guards, wings, centers ) in basketball play 75% of the game. In other sports offensive star players (hitters, quarterbacks, forwards, etc) don’t play as much and don’t make an impact in the game the same way basketball offensive stars do.
The NBA backed themselves into a corner when they decided to market players over teams. When a player leaves or retires unless they are able to build another star(s) fast enough their product suffers. It’s been 20+ years and they’re still trying to find the next Jordan.
Yet they talk about the next MJ? NFL don’t talk about the next Brady…You act like Shaq Kobe Lebron and Steph never played ball there’s always superstars in the league
Also in basketball a team can take a massive/huge lead in a game and have some chances to comeback because elite shooters/shot creators can always get hot at any Time in the game and score in bunches. In a typical basketball game, there are many ball possessions and many scoring opportunities. (Offensive rebounding and free throw attempts too ). And starters in basketball can play the entire game if needed.
In other sports, when a team takes a huge lead it’s impossible to make a comeback and win because offensive outbursts in these sports are rare and sporadic, and hitters in baseballs, scoring centers/forwards/offensive-minded defensemen in hockey, forwards/ offensive midfielders in soccer and quarterbacks/tightened/wide receivers/running backs don’t have as much offensive possessions/at-bats and playing time compared to a starter in basketball.
Offensive outbursts in basketball happen often, in other team sports they are rare events and in other team sports, players with offensive roles playing in offensive situations don’t have as much impact and playing time than a elite starter with elite scoring/shooting ability in basketball.
