I went to see this tonight. I was the only person in the theater.
Just came back from the movie/performance. Blood, Nas is too unsung IMO. just to go back to his mind frame and experience the build up, the era, his upbringing, etc Illmatic is timeless man. Nas is the GOAT, and yes, hip hop was so much iller in the 80's-90's when it was new and it was raw. I really miss regional sounds and rappers taking you into their world, now cats just take you to the club, the bedroom or to a drug
That said, I don't know that I'd go to the theater to see this, but if you can go to the screening/concert, it's worth your money.
On the downside, in true Nas fashion, the nikka definitely forgot some of the lyrics...I would give him a pass because of how much material he has, but I've seen Jay 6-7 times from 2000-2014 and he's never blanked out on a lyric
Props - I was going to go on Saturday but got tickets for Wednesday instead. What did you think of the atmosphere and overall show?
A Blu-ray release is coming in the UK
This thing has 100 percent on Rotten tomatoes.
I finally got to see it.
It doesn't matter if you live in the biggest shyt hole, if you got two great parents who nature you, you can do anything.
On a side note, they need to fukking make a documentary like this on The Infamous. That album is arguably just as good as Illmatic or even better. I don't know why P and Hav don't celebrate that album. They need to. Nas doesn't show much love to IWW even though that was the album that really propelled him to the masses, not Illmatic.
