velius in final fantasy tactics is a bytch of a boss too. especially if youre unprepared. it took me all night, but o struggled to beat his ass with 2 lancers constantly jumping, and 2 ninjas with two hands
That whole level is fukked. Riovanes outside the castle is hard cuz the archers gonna pot shot the fukk out of you. Then beating Weigraf one on one is hard as fukk and after you beat him you feel like you can take a breath but NOPE, Velius and his boys coming for you. Velius the type of boss that make you remember to never have only one save file. Beating him the first time I lost like two soldiers permenantly and just had to shrug that shyt off and move on. Even after all that you still gotta beat Elmdor and the assassins while making sure Rafa's weak ass doesn't die. That level hard as fukk.

HE WAS EASY. fukkING RUBY WEAPON.
This motherfukker here...hard as shyt. I beat Emerald without Underwater materia though. Double-Cast KOTR, Mime that with someone else, third party member should start fight with haste/regen, have Final Cast paired with Phoenix and spam megalixers as needed. Easy.
As for Gill...never found him THAT hard. Just don't let him get you into a corner. And play to counter and juggle, avoid his throw, and parry his fireballs. Fight him in the mid-range so you can kick him out his supers.
