Probably, the best decision he could have made for many reasons.....

  • He gets another year for NFL scouts to look at him. He just made himself some money provided that he stays healthy. He will get the NFL QB draftee hype that so many college QB's receive, deserved or not. A good year would take him from third round money to first round money.

  • He will get another year at OU to soak up the knowledge from the guru Lincoln Riley. That would give him a little more time to correct minor flaws, learn to read defenses better and polish anything else needed.

  • Staying another year at OU is a low risk/high reward situation due to OU's competence to have great RB and O-line corps that would not only protect him, but not overuse him. Basically, the entire line returns next season and they have quality depth. At RB, if both Mixon and Perine leave, we'll be ok because we have stud RB's coming in (already enrolled), Rodney Anderson who will get a chance to play after multiple sseason-ending injuries, Daniel Brooks (the shifty scat back) and a more than capable Dimitri Flowers(who filled in against ISU & put in work).

  • Baker Mayfield will get a season long farewell tour, a chance to win the Heisman, and one more shot at a title (which IMO, is a long shot because of our defense.... too many possible early entries into the draft, too many holes in key positions, no quality depth and Mike Stoops guaranteed fukk up at least one per season.

What backs do we have coming in breh? There's nobody on the level of perine or Mixon if they leave.

And Daniel brooks is retired due to concussions.

And Rodney Anderson has been injured for 2 years. I can't get my hopes up for him.

Wow on Brooks, didn't realize he left the team.

Let me temper the hype because we won't know what any of our players will do until they step on campus, and ultimately play in games. Our stud this year from SEC country. Four star Marietta, GA RB Trey Sermon. 6'1 220lbs. Offers from Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Florida and us. He is an multipurpose back like Mixon(not a comparison). He has strong RB fundamentals (switches ball in hand away from defenders, doesn't fumble, and good vision.) Only question is his speed. He doesn't seem to have elite speed. Some say he looks slow which I kinda agree with but others are saying that his speed is deceptive because he has a long stride. In any case, if he has good vision, can block and hold on to the football, he'll do just fine. Perine doesn't have elite speed either and he is being compared to Billy Simms.

The other back is four star Mansfield, TX RB Kennedy Brooks. 6'0, 200lbs, legit 4.5 40 time and looks better on film than Sermon. Speedy and slips tackles well. There are rumblings that he may de commit, but as of now he still belongs to OU. Hopefully, the Bedlam game was enough to convince him because (allegedly) he was there in attendance along with Sermon). Trey Sermon is already enrolled, so he's coming.

I'm not writing off Rodney Anderson yet, but you may be right. How good can he be after those injuries. Hopefully, better than Alex Ross... such a disappointment.
