Thank you for that information I wasn’t aware. You seem Like a sensible poster so I’ll give you a serious response. I’m not against reparations and never have been. However, I don’t see cacs here or in Europe paying meaningful reparations. I sincerely hope I’m wrong though.
I mentioned this before, but the reason you see these threads is because these hashtag groups have made anti black xenophobia a core part of their identity. Go to any of their spaces for proof. They talk more about black immigrants than they do about reparations. They are hate groups at this point.
I honestly don't care what those hashtags mean or say because I speak with more than enough Black Americans to know that they don't fall in to those lines of thinking, and for those that do, what they eat doesn't make me shyt, figuratively speaking.
The talk of reparations is needed and its happening world wide. It will come but only with education and pressure, we may not live to see it but our children most definitely will and that's more important.
Reparations will never be successful as one big black unit because that is not plausible in respect to the legal definition of the word reparations which requires an injured nation.
Which is why in this case its feasible to apply for reparation based on your nationality and against the country that colonised your nation. To my understanding the only Black nation never colonised were the Ethiopians, therefore the majority of black people globally are entitled.
I dont have time to worry about a hashtag and whilst I don't like Marcus Nasheed I don't see how calling him out at every opportunity benefits the cause for non American based reparations when there are much bigger fish to Fry. Lloyd's Bank alone received about £300bn in the form of Slave Owners Compensation, that's the just 1 bank in England....
If we spend more time thinking logistically and not Emotionally, we achieve a lot more. Black Atlantic is real and it exists culturally, no matter who wants to deny it, it binds us historically,
its just not conducive for the benefit of receiving reparations in one sweep.
