:stopitslime:

so two guys equal the mass majority of people now. Of course there were some who did not take the bible literally but you mean to tell me no one else did. :stopitslime:
Some religious historians consider that Biblical literalism came about with the rise of Protestantism; before the Reformation, the Bible was not usually interpreted in a completely literal way.

Even the bible itself doesn't always take itself literally

The New Testament contains an allegorical interpretation of a passage in Genesis. In Galatians*4:21-31 KJV, Paul treats the Genesis story of the sons of Abraham as an allegory.[10]

Here is another group of people
In the 3rd century, Origen and others of the Alexandrian school claimed that the Bible's true meaning could be found only by reading it allegorically.

It's amazing what you'll learn if you just read

your coming off real smug but the point still stands that people took it literally for years. Why are you trying to show a small minority as the majority? You mean to tell me during the dark ages people didn't take it literally. That popes and Kings did not take the bible literally? :rudy:

I won't keep pointing out individual pieces of information. If you really want to learn about the subject, do some research and figure it out on your own.

Check out this documentary, it's very informative

Some Jews and Christians have long considered the creation account of Genesis as an allegory instead of as historical description, much earlier than the development of modern science.

Am I wrong people didn't take it literally.

But you have a point because the mass majority of people could not understand the sermons being read to them before the reformation. I could believe the more educated would not take it literally but you mean to tell me the uneducated didn't?

I also find it hard to believe that they can believe Christ came back to life but they didn't take the bible literally.

The people didn't have bibles, nor could they read. The bible like most texts during that time was written to be heard not to be read, which is why the scriptures use such imagery. It's like a modern day movie. The preists would gather the people and tell them these fantastical stories, and the people would believe whatever the preists told them, about the stories.

Bullshyt, who's ass are you pulling this out of?

Math is fun. Try it. What is the average size of a group of animals containing 1 camel, 15 field mice and 20 frogs? Do you need weight/height for each?
