Apparently there’s less than 100 actual devs at BioWare right now.

NEW: After the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, dozens of BioWare employees were told they were temporarily assigned to other projects within EA. This week, a twist: those temp assignments are now *permanent* transfers. And BioWare has shrunk.

But this week, the group was informed that the loans had morphed into permanent relocations, according to people familiar with what happened. They were no longer BioWare employees who were temporarily on assignment elsewhere; now, they worked for whichever EA subsidiary had borrowed them. If they want to work at BioWare again in the future, they would have to look for job openings and re-apply.

This was an unwelcome development for some of the employees, who now find themselves on brand-new teams at studios they'd never planned to join. Some had come to BioWare to work on storied role-playing game franchises and found the idea of working on action or sports games less appealing.
BioWare is now down from more than 200 people two years ago to less than 100 today, according to the people familiar. A small team will remain to work on the next Mass Effect game — led by company veterans who oversaw the development on the original trilogy as well as on 2019's Anthem — in hopes of expanding as the game gets further into production.

J mean, Anthem had all the help it could get and took people from Andromeda. No one gave a flying fukk about Anthem and the game was as bleh as it could get.

Having less people is of course not a good sign but having "the full team" focusing on Mass Effect wasn't a guarantee of anything either :mjlol:

Let's not play this game.

Bioware is not gonna be the one company to downsize and then churn out a successful game. They would be in the 1% of video game devs.

The IP is cooked.

Who is to say they wont get more people in 1-2 years when they are closer to actually developing the game?

My point is being doom and gloom this early is pointless. We've seen what Bioware's "best effort" has given us in Anthem and Veilguard so I'd still be :patrice: about the new Mass Effect game no matter how many people are currently working on it. Until we actually get a trailer with gameplay, it's all just useless banter.

PS: I'll still buy and play the damn game because I'm a stan and I'll support Mass Effect no matter what.

You are right. Gameplay has been the one thing Bioware has gotten right and even improved with their games. I guess where I'm coming from is that if a gameplay trailer looks like shyt or underwhelming, that's when I'll know nothing is saving Mass Effect.

In terms of writing and story, we'll only be able to judge that once we actually play the play.

They didn't even do a N7 day last year, so they're actually going backwards now. I think 2028 is the earliest we get anything substantial, and by then how many people will even give a fukk.:francis:

Considering how long it's been and people still care, I don't think 3 more years are gonna make much of a difference, lol.

Game was free on both PlayStation+ and Xbox via Game Pass and or EA Access. I bought it anyway cause it’s worth $6.
It's 5 dollars on PSN

Lotta nikkas in here trashing a game that barely has any news. Lotta nikkas in here lost faith in BioWare. Lotta nikkas in here supposed to be real Mass Effect heads but I all I see is naysayers. Shepard you still have one loyal squadmate in me :to:
