It's not the product. It's the consumers. The people who watch it and make money off of "analyzing" it. Kendrick Perkins, Chris Broussard, Skip Bayless, the list of the shytty goes on

Not only are there terrible analysts who broadcast their stupid takes in the media, some of these clowns vote on awards. There's ignorant media personalities that are responsible for MVP votes. You see how crazy that is????

Same shyt that prevented Lebron from getting unanimous MVP that one year. That one vote that went to Melo. Biased, ignorant bullshyt. No objectivity or genuine appreciation of the art of basketball.

And this is exactly what the problem is these days. More emphasis is on narratives and dumb shyt than there is about the GAME. What's going on in the GAME. This is why nobody watches NBA TV gametime

This is why the "Players Only" NBA TNT broadcast gets no love. Why Candace Parker gets no love on TNT etc

The majority of these clowns have never played basketball. Or even genuinely studied the shyt. But they think they know more than someone like Gilbert Arenas or Quentin Richardson. It's disgusting

The stench of ignorance pollutes the audience. Damn near all of the NBA dialogue by fans and everyone else who isn't famous is shallow and stupid. Just biased arguments and talking in circles about menial dumb shyt

"Who's legacy is better
:skip: "

"Wait I know we bytched all season that Jokic didn't deserve to be a 3 time MVP. But were we wrong?
:skip:"

"Lebron has been playing with a fukked up foot this whole time but he's still not better than Jordan
:skip: "

shyt really makes me sick. Because I grew up watching basketball when the internet wasn't such a toxic influence on the game. This "first take" culture is the exact reason why KD went to Golden State. So much of what's wrong in the league today is rooted in this toxic ass culture. A culture made by bytch ass nikkas who don't even KNOW the game

They know Jordan has more rings than Lebron. But ask them if they know what a "box in one" is. And they'll juelz. My rant is over

The fans are just as bad. That wasn't solely on the media influence.

To paraphrase KD, NBA fans act like they hate the NBA.
From what I remember, majority of the fans back when I fell in love with the NBA weren't like this

Yea there were Lebron and Kobe fans. But they talked about their games. Not their legacies. What they did on the court that night

That shift I felt happened after Lebron went to Miami. Casuals started to pay attention and infest. And it reallllly flipped once GS won that first 2010s ring. It's only gotten worse from there

And if we reeeeeaaaallly wanna keep it real and break it down to the ROOT? This whole "3 chucking no defense" basketball that is prevalent these days. Is a product of the audience.

The same reason why help defense got introduced in the rules after the 90s. Same reason why 3 in the key got introduced after Wilt. The NBA is a business. And the modern day NBA fan, especially the young cac fakkits, doesn't want to see any game that plays out like a contest between the 2000s Pistons vs the 2000s Spurs

That's the real issue. They bytched about low scoring games. It's not exciting enough
:skip:

The scores are too low
:damn:

The NBA commissioners Stern and now that bald cac I forgot his name. They make alllll these rule changes. And these bytches still aren't satisfied. They made the shyt they complain about worse

But at least money is being made so the owners and management aren't tripping. This is really a thread for the former ballers and people like me who are passionate genuine fans of basketball.

The higher ups in the league are still making changes for these people to raise excitement and viewership for these casuals

You know why this Team Lebron all star format was introduced in the first place right??? Because of the trash ass fans. It wasn't a problem until the Steph Curry era. The shift when the product got bad

Now they're talking about bringing east vs west back. To satisfy these bytches. There's nothing they can do. Gambling, narratives, legacy dialogue, box score stats over what actually happens during the game. EVERYTHING wrong with the league goes back to the main majority of the consumers.

And it may never change

I don't understand what internet people have to do with enjoying the game of basketball. IDGAF who cares about heat nuggets finals, I'm excited and I'm watching every game.

Might buy a ticket to game 4 depending on how tickets are sold
I wish I didn't use the internet so much that I didnt see all of the toxic NBA dialogue. Like back when I REALLY enjoyed it. Back in 2005-2010

The internet is a necessity for me now with everything going on in my life, I can't escape the bullshyt. I can't even go in The Coliseum without some stupid NBA thread about nothing. Such is life

i mean whats stopping you from going onto youtube and finding these non agenda/hot takes bball analyzing videos
I've done this finding years ago bro

ThinkingBasketball, AFunkyDiabetic, Journey of a Ballaholic, these are 3 of the MANY

And if I made a thread posting all of these youtubers and giving them flowers, it would get no traffic on here

This thread will get more posts than annnnyyyy of the informative NBA threads I make or could make on here. Because these casual Coli coaches dont want to see that shyt. This is a microcosm of the problem

No. People's arguments are the same as they've ever been. SOHH was just as reactionary if not worse. Same with Reddit.

I probably didn't see it because I wasn't online. It was barbershop and lunch cafeteria table convos about the games for me

This might be a good idea for an elite TLR thread that won't get any traffic. How badly has the internet really affected society?

Online Kobe's legacy was talked about relentlessly especially after Shaq won in '06. Bron getting kicked out of the playoffs in mutltiple different ways from '08-'11 had people saying crazy shyt.

Social media just made it more apparent.
