Lex woulda never been a golden boy anywhere... the only time he seemed he could be was in '88 when he broke away from the Horsemen and challenged Flair.
Is Flair the 'certain someone' you were referring to?
Cause if so, yeah, they sould have had him go over Flair at Starrcade and he would've been made. Especially after the initial match at the Great American Bash when he lost due to blood loss. People really wanted to see him get the belt after that and the rematch at Starrcade woulda been perfect. But then he loses, and that was the last time Luger had the opportunity to be a draw.
I expounded on exactly why at the time this never worked and lex caught all the blame erroneously in the people who are buried erroneously thread on luger.
NWA and wcw later were never gonna get the max out of their company as a draw because they never crowned lex the golden boy when he first arrived.
anything after that is why I said he was bruised fruit.
not beating flair early damaged his convincability rivaling Hogan and the NWA. Plus the NWA never recognizing luger was their actual golden goose.
luger was it, and the NWA, and flair fukked it up.
long before Vince came along.
Vince came along and was an idiot too.
so, he could never fix it but he could have rather easily.
instead he fukked it up too.
luger is where you can easily show how Vince and the NWA were completely inept.
realistically, if there were smarter individuals around at this time.
who simply just did the simple things with luger following a similar but mor le athletic finish than hulk/sheik. You would have had luger as the guy.
it is as simple as that with luger.
instead we got goof tard over thinking and nuffin but inept disconnect and no glory year stories of lore about luger.
when we very easily should be mentioning luger atop Olympus.
instead of blaming him for his burial to the death of Liz erroneously.
luger is kinda the victim in the discussion of his career.
