:jawalrus: I had to make something that celebrated Black women of all types. A lot of blogs that are meant to uplift Black women exclude a lot of Black women who don't fit that easily dismissive "Queen" narrative. The respectability politics that are often thrown at Black women. I wanted to give voices to the Black women are not only desired to be silent but not seen at all. I worked my ass off on that blog and it paid off eventually.

It's a good blog, had no idea you ran it. Destiny. :mjcry:

:jawalrus: I had to make something that celebrated Black women of all types. A lot of blogs that are meant to uplift Black women exclude a lot of Black women who don't fit that easily dismissive "Queen" narrative. You can get knocked off the "Queen" thrown by doing anything that's not considered "lady like" - and with Black woman, that can be anything. A hair color, hair length, clothing choice, partner choice, body size, skin color, job position, etc. The respectability politics that are often thrown at Black women. I wanted to give voices to the Black women who are not only desired to be silent but not seen at all. I worked my ass off on that blog and it paid off eventually.
I respect that
