Feeling so frustrated today. Why do so many adults struggle with direct communication?

I legit had 3 seperate conversations today and all 3 failed.

In the last conversation, a family member planned an outing for everyone today. But this morning I heard her tell her husband that he couldn't go because his foot swollen up. I asked her was he too messed up to go and she said he was.

I figured the shyt would be canceled but I called to make sure before I came so I could grab something to eat. When I talk to her she said it was still on but started grilling me about whether I wanted to go.

I told her it was fine. In my mind, I'm thinking " YOU said the shyt was canceled." I get there and she starts grilling me again.

I am a very direct communicator so I hate repeating myself and I hate even more when someone tries to "decipher" a direct communication.

Now she is acting like I hurt her feeling because I told her in a firmer tone it was fine and stop asking me.

This is exactly why I can't be in a relationship. Silly ass annoying shyt. If she wasn't family I would literally cut her off for this goofy shyt. Do that dumb shyt with your husband.

This sort of switch up is very common. Another example is the Lone Ranger. The real life one was a brother.
