The rappers we care about do. Most these dudes just flood the market with bs and sees what sticksMost classic albums are not birth out of concern for legacy. Are rappers too concerned about the impact they will have? Will we ever get a Nas/Premier album?

I think the best approach is to focus on creating moments. Create enough moments and some moments will be viewed as classics in retrospect. Whether or not a moment becomes classic depends a lot on the overall climate of pop culture and how things evolve as well as the quality of the piece. Only thing you really have control over is the quality and "creating a moment". The classicness and legacy aspect are outside of your control so no need to focus on it.3 stacks

Doggystyle, The Chronic, All Eyes on Me, Makaveli, Straight Outta Compton, America's Most Wanted, Life After Death, etc, etc... All moments (based in drama but still). I could be wrong but I'd bet none of them were telling themselves "we are gonna create a classic album". It was just we are gonna create a moment. Even The Black Album which is not my favorite, i gotta admit it became a classic hip hop album because it was a moment first.
Good, keep that same energy. I hate when they can dish out shyt but can't take it
Do you ever let them have it
And if so, do they get their feelings hurt or do they take it
