Had a conversation with a colleague of mines.

We had a disagreement on how the bail system works here as far as corrections.

I think “posting bail” is ridiculous. I’ve been CHARGED with a crime, not convicted, yet to regain my freedom upon charges not yet affirmed by 12 of my peers, I have to pay the state a surety in the form of cash. How is this not lawlessness and unfair when the scales automatically favor someone who’s more well to do versus a man who lives paycheck to paycheck? The courts must remain DEFENSIVE and BALANCED in protecting the people’s rights, you cannot convict a man when HE HASNT been convicted!
