Another criticism that I have regarding the LGBTQ community is its funny style way of presenting and maintaining its history. I notice how gay history that pertains to today's world is pretty much being trimmed by certain groups and folks with a degree of power in the LGBTQ community to basically be whitewashed. The end result is clearly historical inaccuracies which play a huge role with how members view themselves, their peers and those outside their community. It's being manipulated to be used to benefit some and marginalize others. Basically to validate the unseen but ever so present hierarchy that was and is currently being built and maintained by those who want to run the LGBTQ community. You have folks being written out of history and being ignored because they work against the narrative thats some LGBTQ folks in power dont want people to know.
This is why I cant cosign LGBTQ history being taught in schools right now. LGBTQ history is still being researched where it cant be taught in a way that gives people a full understanding of how homosexuality is a part of human nature, homophobia, racism, sexism and all these isms inside the LGBTQ community, gay culture, and etc etc. Theres so much and LGBTQ history is fairly a new realm that's been looked to so theres been a rush for folks to tell it as well as to take advantage of altering the narrative to inject themselves in there as to justify what they're doing.
I always found it weird how gay history start has always been put in the beginning of the 1900s. It's like everything before that, it doesn't exist. I know that there were LGBTQ in pre colonial Africa but there was no labels on that shyt. It was seen as normal. It was the colonialists that frowned down on that shyt and demonized it through religion. I've never seen or heard any gay historians ever breakdown homosexuality in the world going way back when especially in pre colonial Africa. People were able to be who they were in peace. Gay, trans, straight, have orgies, multiple partners, lovers and etc were documented in artifacts to be present in some even though I'm not sure how many communities in pre historic Africa. They NEVER bring up the history of LGBTQ in certain groups as to purposely create this idea that homosexuality only exist among white people. I also notice how homophobia and the history of it, is being manipulated where history is being written out or ignored as to create a narrative that certain groups such as white people in general are nonhomophobic or have no involvement with homophobia/transphobia being institutionalized and a fabric around the world even in cultures outside of Europe. Also the opposite where other groups like black people are mostly homophobic and have very few LGBTQ persons within it or havent contributed to LGBTQ rights or culture or have no historical presence throughout history.
