Sometimes you got to cut people off, I practically cut my dad off because he's a huge jerk. I pray for him, I talk to him when I have to, when he decides to talk to me, help when he needs it. This man recently got a pump installed into his heart. I don't live with him.

I can't keep putting up with verbal abuse like a child yearning for validation.
I have even tried once on the phone in the middle of his BS, calling him out and remaining calm. Trying to hash it out with understanding. He literally just said he's not arguing with a little boy, breh I'm a legal grown adult. 20s.

Just pray and love from a far. Some folks just won't change.

Had to do that to a good friend a few years ago. Her and I were good friends, but then she suddenly quit speaking to me for a few years (2013-16) and then she just magically popped up. She sounded like she was in trouble and I eventually learned that she had got hooked up with the wrong guy and was addicted to opioids.

I tried helping and talking to her, but she eventually stole my phone, and went to a pawn shop, and got some quick drug money to quench her habit. The police eventually caught her and b/f passed out in a van in a Walmart parking lot that they had been living in. She sung like a bird and gave up where the phone was and I got it back (I had already spent money on another phone so that one is a backup now.) She stole from a lot of people and I even heard that she may have prostituted herself a few times to get drugs.

She entered a one year rehab stint and is out now. Her sister messaged me a year and a half ago and all I said was, "I wish her the best, but I don't want anything to do with her ever again." I haven't heard anything since then and don't want to.
