There's nothing really redeemable or special about these people, this society and the culture.
Brookings was correct in it's write up about generational malaise and the poor transference of values and habits between generations although they were - along with other major institutions - direct sponsors of these same adverse societal behaviors. It's unfortunate that the youth are only now beginning to realize their predicament, as they can clearly see something is wrong in their environment but the devil is there.
Whether or not they want it, they will be the agents of change..over one hundred years of work has brought us a generation that is pliable and that will readily work in concert to bring about our aims and final plan into fruition. No need to hide it anymore. A lot of them will die as will most of the population will..but there is duty in sacrifice, some penance in bloodshed.
