Nah breh, it's definitely distance - NY to Medellin, Colombia is 2700 miles, from NY to Salvador, Brazil is 4300 miles and NY to Rio is 4800.


Also, Colombia is much safer than Brazil, the kidnappings aren't nearly as prevalent in Colombia they are down almost 100% since 2000, whereas pretty much all the most violent cities in South America are in Brazil.
