As a Lion King stan, this ain't it. We didnt need a live action version. The animated was arguably the best film to come out that year and is a modern classic. Who was asking for this? 3 year olds still are still watching the animated film.

This'll make a lot of money and then a month down the road everyone will forget about it like they did with Beauty and the Beast (and probably Aladdin). Hell, I hardly hear anyone mention The Jungle Book remake nowadays and I liked that one.

They’re old stories. There’s nothing to hang on to for long tail discussions about them just because they changed the format but both beauty and the beat and jungle book had tons of hype during their release, made bank, and jungly book won all sorts of awards, I think that’s pretty good for a story that’s has been childhood canon for 30-40 years at that point
