it's not a good situation across the board for black wrestlers in an industry that has largely been defined and been centered around literal white supremacists.
That said, the fact that literally 70% of the current pool of incoming talent going to the main from NXT the next few years would fail the paper bag test is a step in the right direction. Because once they're called up, if the booking goes out of its way to undermine them, then it's a clear vendetta and we can call it as such. But it's not going to go that way because HHH loves his NXT and is overjoyed it's now a canonical part of WWE. But with that means he has to now respect that very thing he's been wanting, and for the last 1-2 years NXT has been a CLEARLY black-dominant show. So while their track record for call-ups isn't stellar... Hunter's about to have his hands tied.
But there's no such accountability in AEW.
What's the plan there? To wait until WWE releases some of that black NXT talent so they can go sign them themselves?
Because literally all their top black talent that are actually getting wins lately came from the E.
NXT is AEW's developmental too
means EVERYONE should be cheering for NXT's success.
Either the talent makes it in the E and ends up something,
or they leave, go to AEW and hopefully end up something there.
NXT is the fulcrum point of black people in the industry right now
and it's weird as fukk that it's Shawn fukking Michaels doing it, but that's the world we live in. You want everyone to be happy for black folk succeeding in wrestling... welp. Until Khan figures his shyt out and makes a developmental and starts building himself some stars for the future who have no need for SPF, seems to be that the entirety of the minority representation for AEW hinges on hoping WWE continues to waste black talent. Because if they don't... there is no Plan B for Tony Khan to get more black wrestlers currently.
Look what he's done with Bryan Keith.
