John vs Roman reigns. Passing the torch match

What do you think is the correlation? I feel like the start of the WWE Network put them in a position where they have to rely on hardcore fans for subscriptions.

I'd tend to agree, with that, WWE started signing every top star from every top promotion around the world. I mean who would've thought in 2014 that you would see AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode, Eric Young, Adam Cole, and reDragon in a WWE ring? I think HHH's vision for the business (as we see with NXT) had a lot to do with it as well.

Yeah I think that Trips does have a lot to do with the change in business goals. Just browsing the first year of NXT Takeover's, in the beginning the only big indy names were Neville and Zayn. By the time the December 2014 Takeover came, we had Hideo, Finn, and Kevin Owens on NXT.

Now it's the complete opposite. The only homegrown guys on the Takeover from Saturday were Lars Sullivan, Velveteen Dream and AOP. They've done a complete 180.

I believe that there's two parts to NXT now, of course you have the main NXT with the Indie guys and a few homegrown guys and then the high school gym house show NXT with the PC wrestlers. Triple H obviously patterns NXT now after old school 80s wrestling, there was that little down period in 2016 I believe but I think NXT is better than ever now and more fit to accommodate top Indie guys.

Yeah they had to gut NXT to make the brand split work at all. My only problem with the two tiers of NXT is that it seems like Performance Center trained guys are getting left behind, I'm not even sure a solo PC act has been called up since Braun.

It doesn't affect the female PC trainees that much though since WWE isn't really looking to bring in Shimmer type chicks.
