Yup. If the gameplay was the draw none of this would matter.
I’ve literally never been disappointed at the story of a game cause the games I play have compelling gameplay first and foremost. I usually could care less about the story.

I'm aware. But someone said that she was modeled to be muscular to appeal to some trans people... And I wish they made women like that in games again. Nowadays they purposely make women in games less attractive so they don't appear sexist and misogynistic. Smh. Look how they toned down Lara Croft in Tomb Raider .. or the women in Uncharted Lost Legacy. A couple others... It's getting ridiculous. It's almost like there's a war on feminine attractive women. They made this Abby chick built like Triple H yet she's straight

There’s no “war on feminine attractive women” game developers have just decided to go with more realistic depictions of women with character designs that make more sense to the story instead of just trying to make them “sexy”

The hostile reception towards this new development isn't the ends BUT the means. There are two enemies in this series -- Humans and Environment. LoU establishes the MCs are victims of circumstance. Joel's introduced as the devoted single parent, who experiences swift loss (at Human selfishness) and is disallowed an opportunity to heal. Instead thrust broken into a viscous world, merely existing and becoming this dispassionate and hardened man. Ellie is introduced as his opportunity for reflection and growth. She's naturally adapted to withstand the harshness of the Environment. However, she is vulnerability to the Human -- more so than everyone. We are then forced to watch a Joe rediscover his paternal instinct. Fire-Flies weren't supposed to be "good". Their willingness to sacrifice Ellie and even goad Joel attest to this. Marlene never cared for Ellie -- she dumped her in military school -- and becomes interested once she's resourceful. The entire universe is built upon the relationships and decision between those two.
The new material is a blatant b*stardization of the themes, story-line and original characters. First comes the blatant piggy-backing on familiarity of the originals. In comes their sudden expunging and re-purposing. Joel's nuance is reduced to that if a senseless brute -- which isn't terrible. However, his execution isn't in some valiant insurmountable effort -- as expected. He's bashed like -- A common dog that disobeyed its master. This would've worked if Ellie was to be guided down a path of rage and redemption-- as the trailers bamboozled us to believe. Instead Ellie is cast to the side and we're supposed to champion this new Chyna looking bytch. Who we have less emotional connection to than Tess. Afterwhich you're supposed to hunt down and dismantle the last piece of everything which built the franchise. Whenever you create media and make bold decisions to match, surpass or subvert (the new retarded's alert) expectation, be prepared to answer this question. WHY? For those who've read the spoiler and broken down each major plot point, it falls flat.
Diversity? A Lesbian White Woman murdered the Titular Straight White Man and takes over the Titular Lesbian White Woman. Asian Characters reduced to Fodder Support. Everyone else is somewhere between Became Clickers to Don't Exist.
Subversion? Child of Morally Dubious Organization murders Morally Dubious Man who resisted Morally Dubious Organization.
Themes? I can't believe its not Tiger Woods murders Protagonist because "Muh Parent". Orphaned Neo-Protagonist fights Orphaned Protagonist who wants to Avenge "Muh Parent" Neo-Orphaned Protagonist wins but realizes she's become part of Revenge Cycle. Who is supposed to Fight her? If you said Tommy or anyone else you Flopped. Ellie and Joe were the perfect thematic fit. Yet, Chyna butchered Joel like she was shooting an Attitude Era promo, snuffed Ellie and beat everyone else senseless.

So was the part where Abby walked away after almost killing Ellie and Dina the end of the game? I would think there'd be more to the ending... Or has the ending just not leaked yet?
