Well they need to release this in June to avoid all the other heavy hitters. FFVII remake in March, Cyberpunk in April, Avengers in May (Avengers confirmed to have PS5 enhancements). As long as this is released before 6/21/19 They can still claim spring. Then release the multiplayer at PS5 launch.

ND don't need to dodge heavy hitters, TLOU2 is already a juggernaut it's the other games around it that would have shytted themselves. I get not conflicting with other first party but multiplatform games shouldn't matter. Guerrilla Games wasn't shook releasing Horizon the same week as BoTW and it still did great on their charts. :martin:

They need some better oversight or something. Delays happen, but you shouldn’t EXPECT delays from every release out of a studio, which is why I personally don’t give them the benefit of doubt about dodging other releases. They always delay their shyt anyway.

You also shouldn’t have delays only a month after you finally announce a release date. They said they purposely waited as long as possible to announce a date, just to avoid this kinda shyt for once.

Like I constantly say, and might have in this damn thread, if you are this level of developer, and you’re releasing one of your established IPs, there isn’t even a point in these long ass promo cycles. There was no reason to announce TLOU2 in 2016 if we’re not even getting it til 2020. Announce it like FO4 did.

Couldnt care less. Its naughty dog. They know what they doing.

Uncharted 4 went from summer 2015 to may 2016. Almost an entire year.

This is just 3 months.

..for now

It’s not even this delay. It’s a culmination. If your date barely made it month, you knew you weren’t making the date. So why even announce it in the first place?

Another fukking delay from Naughty Dog. It's clockwork with them. Every game they've put out since the UC series has been delayed at one point or another.

Naughty Dog always delivers piff and they said the first game being delayed led to it being so great, so I'm confident they are taking the same tactic for this as well :ehh:. If my backlog wasn't already crazy or if there still weren't big games dropping early next year, it might matter more to me.

The Last of Us Part II Comes to PS4 in May
To our fans,

Let me cut to the chase and get the news out of the way. The Last of Us Part II has a new release date of May 29, 2020.

I know. It was just about a month ago when we had our big blowout for the game, letting media play over two hours of it along with debuting our new story trailer and revealing the release date. The positive response we saw from our community was overwhelming. You can feel the energy among the team members. After working on something for so many years, it’s invigorating to get a glimpse of validation for all the hard work.

However, it was during the last few weeks, as we were closing out sections of the game, that we realized we simply didn’t have enough time to bring the entire game up to a level of polish we would call Naughty Dog quality. At this point we were faced with two options: compromise parts of the game or get more time. We went with the latter, and this new release date allows us to finish everything to our level of satisfaction while also reducing stress on the team.

While we’re relieved that we won’t have to compromise our vision, we’re disappointed that we weren’t able to avoid this exact situation. We wish we could’ve foreseen the amount of polish we needed, but the size and scope of this game got the better of us. We hate disappointing our fans and for that we’re sorry.

We hope you understand that this additional time ensures that The Last of Us Part II lives up to our collective ambition as well as our commitment to the highest level of quality. We know the extra few months will add to what may already be an excruciating wait for all of us. We are grateful for your patience and continued support. Come next May, you will finally rejoin Ellie in The Last of Us Part II.
