I don’t think multiplayer fits with the tone Naughty Dog seems to be going for in Part II, every NPC has a name, they call out in anguish when you kill their allies(Including their attack dogs), Neil Druckmann talked about feeling uneasy with the violence. I can totally see them deciding to release the multiplayer separately to not detract from the points their story is making.
this aint xbox cod and 12 yr olds werent on TLOU like that

Plus there's been party chat for most of the game's life. There's also privacy settings so randos don't send you their filth. The a$$holes were very easy to avoid this gen.

Breh, gamers have been complaining non-stop about Cyberpunk being first person only for over a year now, they're entitled as shyt.
The lack of MP is at least an acceptable complaint because the first game had it.

I`m 26 going on 27, i don`t think i`m as young as you think i am. Either way i don`t see age having to do with anything that i wrote. As i stated earlier i personally play games for a great story "first and foremost". That includes TLOU series. Honestly, i dead ass never played TLOU multiplayer. Where all you had was an single player experience unless you were FGC gang or playing Mario
Where there was no DLC or previews of games unless it was in a magazine
You mad because a studio wants you to focus on the narrative of the game first and then they may release MP..
This is their biggest endeavor..

So, how am i mad about multiplayer when:
A) I chose not to play it in the first game
and
B) The story is "most importantly more than anything else" (the definition of "first and foremost") to me.
Also as i stated earlier i heard the multiplayer was great, and successful. So for the other people in this thread that did play the MP in the first game, enjoyed it, and were looking forward to it in part 2, and are just voicing their opinions. How exactly are they entitled? This isn`t God of War. I don`t think that series ever had a MP to remove to begin with. I played and praised TLOU for its story and characters, like you said. But I would be foolish to believe people stopped there like i did.
I`m sure there are people who wanted to download, or rip the plastic off TLOU2. Put it on and go straight to MP because of all the entertainment they got out of TLOU1`s MP. There are people who after completing a game. Like to put hundreds of hours online with their friends. All the way up until the next installment releases.
If Sony or Microsoft (moreso Sony) announced tomorrow that on their next generation console they`re removing multiplayer. Wouldn`t you think that`s weird, and a step backwards? No matter how much better the console improved in other areas. It`s even worse if a stronger console releases later, and MP returns. That would strongly suggest (imo) they only did it for double dip purposes. But, that`s just what people are speculating about with TLOU2.
You said i brought up genres of games. If you`re reffering to Cyberpunk, and Fallout 76. You have to understand. The decisions the developers of these game are making\made is recieving major backlash from even critics. It`s high risk, and not good businesswise.

The only thing ludicrous was the devs, and them going the route of online only. The fans were expecting a true Fallout sequel. Not demanding one. People knew the game was a cash grab, and going to be a failure once they announced online only. In the end it was a failure.
Now i think Cyberpunk will turn out to be a success. But there are people (of all ages) who are not fukking with it anymore, just because there`s no third person view. First person isn`t as popular as it was many years ago. The smart thing for them to do would`ve been to give us the option to switch between first and third person like Skyrim (A classic game from last generation), or ironically, the Fallout series. It`s not anyone being entitled, or demanding anything. It makes sense to give us that option. Not doing so is always going to lose you some customers.

I had first played TLOU via PS Now and they didn't allow MP or DLC stuff if I remember correctly, so I just played the Single Player and dipped. I loved the game a lot though, so when it went on sale last year, I bought the Remastered Digital Edition immediately during the E3 week and beat it again. Never thought to touch MP cause again, I had no idea it was a big deal.
...But since yesterday was Outbreak Day, and it's been over 16 months or so since I last played... I was thinking of re-downloading it and finally giving this a shot.
Cause if everyone is this upset over it not being included, then the MP must've been something special.

I like it a lot and I still play. If you do decide to start just know you're gonna be food for a while. The MP is best when you're playing with friends who communicate (yeah you gonna have to use that mic breh). While some really good players can carry their team, the solo for dolo COD tactics will get you bodied a lot.
My squad usually win against a team of randos.

I don't understand why anybody upset about no MP? God of War have no MP and they love it. Also, I barely playing MP on The Last of Us too so I don't see no big deal.

The only folks out here not playing mp games are old nikkas and trash nikkas. Which are basically the same person. Did the first one need a mp? No, was the mp a surprisingly and unique gaming experience that was completely different than anything out at the time? Absolutely. They clearly stated there would be an mp in this game so this news is of course gonna upset some folks including myself. I don’t buy sp only games full price anymore because I don’t replay them. So Hopefully they release something afterwards. I don’t like most mp’s out because everything is fps so I’ve been anticipating this shyt forever. I hope they have something cooking up though. ND has nvr failed me since UC2
