Finished it. I’m glad I played them all back to back. It was a great game and I enjoyed it. Only thing I didn’t like was the second half of the story, not really because of what happened in the beginning, but I honestly did not give af about the backstory of that chick.

The levels were fun, but the story was meh and felt kind of like they were trying to make you like her. When they got to the theater part, that shyt was crazy and that’s when she acted like what I always thought she was: a villain, not some good person the story was trying to show. That entire theater shyt was what that chick was to me the whole time. The boss fight in the hospital basement and final part of her day 3 were good too.

I liked the first half of the story a lot better though.

I also really felt Santa Barbara was really good since the scenery was so different and it was longer than expected.

The ending has me a little confused though.

I took Ellie leaving the house different than I have seen others take it. They took what she did at the very end of the story as a fukk you to Joel and she’s moving on from him and leaving him in the past.

I didn’t feel that way. I felt that she let go of the anger, not that she was leaving him in the past since he’s basically the most important person that was in her life. I feel she’ll always keep the thought of him alive and well because she loves and cares for him.

Plus a story without Joel would be trash.

I Hope part 3 focuses a lot more on Ellie and Joel in a better light.

Yeah, i think i lean the opposite.

I obviously like Ellie because we have history with her character and are most connected to that story. Ellie, Tommy, Joel, even Dinah and Jesse. But I felt like Ellies part of the game had a lot of filler, it had two open world sections back to back. naughty dog keeps experimenting with this semi-open world formula in their games and I’m not sure if it really works yet. They did it in uncharted 4, last legacy. and now this. Ellies also occurs before you know whats really going on with ther other half of the story.

I didn’t like Abbys character even though i did feel sympathetic for her once she basically adopted Lev, because its basically the same story as Joel and Ellie (i see what you did Thur) and how she takes the burden of protecting this child to atone for some wrong doings of the past. That stuff worked on me, I’m a sucker for shyt like that. After Ellie tracked her down and seeing her crucified i was like of mentally exhausted (in a good way) i just wanted the violence to end and I’m glad they both kind of walked away. Also, like how do you play a VIDEO GAME and want violence to end? Lol that goes to show how real this shyt felt even for a “zombie” game.

Now for why I really enjoyed Abby better, its simple. She had better set pieces.

  • The sky bridge
  • The escape in the Forrest
  • The burning seraphites village/war backdrop escape
  • Scaling the hotel
  • The resident evil style boss fight
  • And the sniper fight
The dual perspective thing is one i don’t think I’ve ever seen pulled off to this degree in a game before. Having the characters you love become boss fights was a surreal feeling. Like, seeing tommy teach ellie how to draw out clickers by shooting the sign/cars, and then having him do it to you while you pursue him. There’s so many little details you get like that, and all the characters seem so much badass when they are framed as villains.

Another example, when you’re using Ellie you think, this girl is like 95 lbs soaking wet, and I’m annihilating people this is kind of silly. Then when you fight her in the theater it’s terrifying, ellie is a fukking beast when you, yourself have to fight her. Then she comes back full Sarah Conor style at the end.:wow:

Either way, goat game and I’m tired of sucking its dikk.

Yeah I felt abby had great levels and nice parts, but when it came to her flashbacks and stories I was like I don’t give af lmao.

It’s like with Ellie, she had some good parts as well, but I was more interested in her story and what was gonna happen next most of all.

Plus like you said having history with Joel and Ellie does connect you more to her story. In fact it’s mostly why I found part 1’s story so good because of her character and it made me want to play part 2.

What were your thoughts on Ellie leaving the guitar? You feel it was a leaving Joel behind and forgetting about him type thing or something else?

Same as you. Not forgetting about him but simply moving on from being angry and feeling helpless. I think this game isn’t really about revenge it’s more about grief, i think she had finally finished grieving for him. The fact that she couldn’t play the guitar anymore meant that she’ll never get to go back, she lost her innocence. I also see it as bit of a coming of age story, she always had Joel to take care of her even when they weren’t on speaking terms he was watching out for her. Not only narrative wise but gameplay wise. This was the first time she was really on her own, and she had to become her own capable woman by the end of the game without him, she also had to carry a game without him.

Yeah them reddit dudes are crazy lmao. They would say “How could she do that? She’s a selfish bytch, she’s basically telling fukk you to Joel, she is trying to leave him in the past, etc.”

I felt like she said I can’t play this right now, I’m going for a walk lmao.

I didn’t get that she wanted to let go of him and her feelings for him.

I ain’t gonna front I felt some type of way reading they feel she is moving on from him.

I’m like all the shyt he did for you and died because of you and you tryna forget him?!

Then I was like nah, ain’t no way the ending means that.

I noticed that the last of us sub loves the game while the last of us 2 sub hates it.

A lot of those guys treat joel like a god so its no wonder they came to that conclusion.

Anyone whos ever lost someone close to them will tell you that eventually life goes on. It’s part of being human you can’t be grief stricken your entire life. It’s good for fans to move on from that character also. Just goes to show how powerful games can be.

the actual LOU2 sub is a hate sub, so much I think it’s actually a parody, either these people have nothing better to do or that really are incapable of understanding plot points and story telling past “they killed my
Joel :mjcry:

criticism is fine, there’s parts of this game I don’t like, but that sub is the literal definition trash

It makes me think about how angry joe acted during his playthrough and why I hate that side of gaming.

Angry Joe was literally the human form of that entire forum during his review lol

“wah why’d they do this to Joel, your ruined the franchise, why does a monster like Abbie get all the best guns and set pieces and gets away with everything but my baby Ellie doesn’t get her revenge, they ruined her character, she’s not the same cheerful child I loved from the first game, The writers don’t understand me as a fan, they gave me different than what I was expecting and that makes me angry, they owed me Joel & Ellie on another adventure, my daddy Joel deserved better, that man was a saint he never had anything bad coming his way ever :sadcam:

You know a game’s good when you can’t stop thinking about it, now I’m here wondering if Ellie made the right choice, when they’ll release part 3, and if they’ll keep Ellie and Joel’s relationship in it showing more on how she thinks fondly of him now compared to part 2.

I’m attached to these characters and it’s crazy.

:snoop::snoop:

I keep feeling that Ellie let Joel down by not killing abby, but then I realized that they all were gonna let abby go when they were in Seattle because dina was pregnant, and how Ellie was the only one who didn’t want abby to get away with it, but was ok with it because Dina needed to get back home.

I feel the Ellie in Seattle would have killed abby if she could, but after abby came through and did what she did to them, she low-key broke their spirits bad.

Tommy was still pissed about it of course, but Ellie was really done, I haven’t seen it mentioned, but I think Ellie didn’t think she could beat abby after their fight in the theater, so it broke her. Her face when Tommy was letting it off on her was the face of a broken woman, she ain’t wanna go back to kill abby, but felt she had to because she was the only one who could do anything about it and she felt that her bad thoughts about Joel would go away if she could kill abby.

In the end, she just couldn’t do it because her heart wasn’t in it like before. I also noticed that last fight was like Uncharted 4’s last fight.

Anyway, I don’t feel as bad about Ellie not killing because I do remember that they were gonna let her go anyway, so they were all ok with it at first.

So they didn’t really let Joel down.

I ain’t never been this attached to video game characters before.

If you want to save your mental health never play grounded permadeath

It’s legit taking me 3-5 hours on average to clear a stage.

one stage took me 10

I never played this before and went to the ultimate challenge.... what a headache
