Definitely could have, but Chauncey wears his heart on his sleeve. He felt like he deserved a certain number from us and took it as disrespect when he didn't get it. Linking back up with Aaron Glenn (his DB coach in New Orleans) for a year to try the market again is a comfortable spot for him.
I don't blame him for doing what he felt he had to do, and I don't blame Howie for not budging when the league showed their hand at how they value him as a jack of all trades DB and not a premier safety.
