Danny Green would be huge and an upgrade over Shumpert.

But, the Cavs are well over the cap and luxury tax line. Green can get more on the open market or from the Spurs.

Here's the thing. They wouldn't sign him in free agency.

Green would only come in a sign and trade scenario with the Spurs using the Haywood contract.

Cavs just can't surpass $13 million in returning salary.

If the Spurs are willing to do it, it would be because they have a larger target that they would be going after in free agency.

I'm not 100% on how this works when a team is over the cap but if the Cavs trade the Haywood contract and the pick, couldn't they absorb whatever the Spurs would give Green in a sign & trade?

cavs offered the 24th pick (predicted to draft a PG) with brandan as a trade incentive..

they need to get rid of brendan (dont know how to spell his name) but losing that pick sucks. might have gotten a norris cole type guard

Breh.

I don't even know where to start.

:snoop:

They are getting rid of Haywood no matter what.

No one said they would trade whoever they end up drafting at #24. They aren't even allowed to trade the pick. They have to draft a player. They may end up keeping him..they may not.

That won't stop them from getting another PG. They've got the mini mid level exception. They've got a second round pick. They've got veteran minimum contracts available.

We can talk about the all kinds of things but the Elephant in the room will ALWAYS be.

KYRIES HEALTH.

Cavs will never reach their full potential if he can never play a full season.

I hope he strengthens his body this off season.

They're going to morph him into a 3 point shooting Tony Parker with better handles.

Kyrie has already admitted that he doesn't train the way he needs to by just watching LeBron prepare all year.

David Griffin mentioned yesterday that Kyrie realizes now the importance of dieting and physical preparation.

I feel like the kid got 4 years of experience in one season. He'll be better prepared.

You gotta keep in mind that with World basketball last summer + the regular season + the post season he played damn near 11 months straight.

They shouldn't have to overuse his minutes next season if they improve the depth like we expect. That would also mean more rest throughout the season for Love and James.

They wouldn't be playing catch up like the did this season.

So far this offseason:
Signed for next season:
Kyrie Irving (Starts 5 year max deal next season)
Joe Harris (Rookie deal)
Anderson Varejao (Starts a 3year/10mil deal)

RFA:
Iman Shumpert (GM says making qualifying offer) (keeping)
Matthew Dellavedova (GM says making qualifying offer) (keeping unless someone tries to overpay)
Tristan Thompson ( a lock to stay for a max deal)

Team Option:
Timothy Mozgov ( Lock great value for a big plays both ends)

Player Option:
Lebron James ( Op-out but signing for the max again 2 year with 1 op-out for TV money)
Kevin Love (Op-out, I think he signs a max 5 year deal for 120mil due to his injury history to have that insurance)
JR Smith ( Op-out if Lebron wants him back he'll be back prolly cheaper per year but long term deal)

Most likely retirement:
Shawn Marion( yes)
Mike Miller (maybe leaning towards yes)
James Jones ( the only one of these with juice left and the one most likely to come back)

Trade bait:
Brandon Haywood: last year of a unguarantee deal worth 10 mil probably get a lot offers for him plus they this years first round/second round pick for upcoming draft

Overall:
I would say expect same team with one new key addition from The Brandon Haywood deal add in a couple veteran minimum guys like maybe Ray Allen

Would be sweet if Miller retired.
