There will never be a Jetsons era without closed airways.

People can't even drive on the ground with friction. Flying everyday traffic that isn't commercial isn't possible in the way the Jetsons painted it. Not because of tech limitations.. it's just not practical or logical. The areas that would allow such traffic would be minimal and out of high population. Like cruising over a desert or some low density remote area

Someone once couldn't conceive the idea that a human could go to space.
China recently tested a Maglev train that is faster than any commercial plane.
The return of Supersonic jets will be here by 2030 minus the sonic boom. Travel from NY to South Africa in 4 hours instead of the current 20 plus hours trip time

This isn't something that's going to be thrown into the market like electric scooters and left to the consumers to figure it out. As it's being introduced it will start off like a Tesla so mainly for commercial usage. Personal use isn't far behind that. Capitalism is what's going to drive that integration. Cars that go over 200mph weren't banned from being made because some people like to excessively speed, drive distracted or drive under the influence.

Jetsons vehicles are free flying everywhere. You can't just be flying over people's homes and past their windows. It really will NOT work. It's a logistical nightmare, think about the accidents. I'm not saying we don't have the technology to do so. I'm saying we know that's not practical. Not in the way it was depicted. In reality there would be designated airways and it would have to take into effect buildings and infrastructure like power lines. So the actual flight paths would be much more limited.

That's why I said this will start off as a commercial venture first. People already fly private aircrafts all over the world and no one blinks an eye at that even with some crashing into skyscrapers, powerlines, onto public roads and into homes. All this with commercial, military and presidents planes in the air with them.

Where would you land/park something that big? I don't see the logistics so far as personal use goes unless you own enough property to store something like this.

I think that gets worked out during commercial phase. The people who are initially going to be able to afford these will have the necessary storage for these. I forsee innovation making them more practical to land right on your driveway. No one envisioned a smartphone would one day double as a camera/ video recorder, mini TV, encyclopedia and some all in the palm of your hand. By the end of this decade or early next decade I can see these being more common.
