i like this one more actually, PNL was nice but yo could tell they were very limited in resources

with this one you can tell they used waaay more live instruments so the sounds are richer imo

i liked the deconstructed sound of PNL. felt like a hip hop interpretation of minimalist psychedelic downtempo shyt like tricky. this feels a little overproduced - and an attempt to move towards mainstream. not bad though...needs more instrumentals and less syd. her vocals this go 'round <<<<

outside of a few drums PNL didn't feel hip hop at all to me, felt moreso like a jazzier/more soulful version of jet age( matt's other group) :yeshrug: i dont look for or want rap sounding shyt from them anyway so it made sense

i do agree with syd's vocals being weaker this time around tho

I would say her vocals are just as strong as their last release
if not better on "Feel good".
The biggest difference in production is live instrumentation
vs. what was likely made on a computer.
It could be a difference in budget or just a different direction
in their sound altogether.
The last album had a very blatant Hip Hop/Trip Hop sound
too it.This album feels more Jazz/Soul/Neo-Soul than the
last.
It's probably because this album isn't as heavy on the rhythms
as the last.
From what I gather drums played a bigger part in PNL
while here the drums which are still important have take the background
while the piano dominates whole songs.

This is just my general assessment of course, certain songs feature the drums
heavy like "pupil/the patience" on Feel Good.

Had to bump this thread

I haven't played any album more than this one in the past 5 months. PNL was cool, but with Feel Good they moved into a grown up Foreign Exchange type vibe production and content wise. The physical copy dropped Tuesday.

It was my favorite release from 2013.

Went to their show in Atlanta last night. They draw an eclectic crowd, the dudes in that bytch look either like Jesse Boykins III or Joon from Overdoz. Women was either lesbians or Erykah Badu lookin chicks. Majority of them look smashable. But they were dope, set had a mix of old joint and new joints, infused with some classics Jamiroquai (Too Young To Die and Mr. Moon), Gap Band (Outstanding), and Justin Timberlake (Senorita). The set was less than hour, I enjoyed it tho
