My point is if the leader or commander-in-chief has appropriate influences over the Sargent, lieutenant, marine, etc. he can keep an army to carry out a task if they find substantial influence that the task necessary and appropriate.
When you disarm the people, you commence to offend them and show that you distrust them either through cowardice or lack of confidence, and both of these opinions generate hatred.

Damn, you really are showing how uneducated you are. Those Generals and soldiers that made up the Confederate Army, broke away from the Union. They were originally under ONE command. Also, there were many personal defections.
The question is, how many British fought with the Yankees? All of them, considering they were British subjects and many of them fought under the British flag during the French Indian Wars.
That doesn't happen always though. Look at Egypt, Venezuela and the Soviet Union when it collapsed.

The "we need an armed populace to fight the government" militia crap is the dumbest shyt out. The government would shut off water, power, access to supplies in a heartbeat on people.

So if the military is typically going to take the side of the people in the event that the government coerces it's powers to a point where the people need to rise up against it....why do the CIVILIANS need assault weapons?
The military can take the drones, the tanks, and cruise missiles, and voila...your all set!

People make this argument a lot, but it's been over ten yeas, and all our fancy technology hasn't be able to subdue the afghans. All they really have is assault weapons and home made explosives.
