hhnf is overrated, I agree. I dont agree its generic unless u count all coke rap generic, and beats were the biggest problem with the album
with that said, *takes a big drake on this thread*
well yea its standard shyt but the wordplay is usually pretty clever. its less conceptual than ghost/rae do, but about the same fare as something what, say, cam would rap about or something...I dunno, I always thought re-up and clipse were pretty good in a way that they could rap about coke and make it non-boring or generic...That's the thing about generic tho. Overall their rhymes are pretty standard fare when compared to the vivid shyt Ghost n Rae spit. Pusha is basically a punchline rapper, and came off rather corny to me at the time.
The voice thing doesn't really bother me. Come to think of it, Ghost has a strange, high-pitched tone to his voice, too.

It does have a lot to do with voice. Cam and Ghostface have the natural flow so they can pull off the lyrical cocaine talk style. When the Clipse do it they sound forced. Also Cam and Ghost have tracks with different vibes. Every Clipse track is the same fake coke talk. Every verse on HHNF is interchangeable. And thats so lame
