hhnf is overrated, I agree. I dont agree its generic unless u count all coke rap generic, and beats were the biggest problem with the album

with that said, *takes a big drake on this thread*

That's the thing about generic tho. Overall their rhymes are pretty standard fare when compared to the vivid shyt Ghost n Rae spit. Pusha is basically a punchline rapper, and came off rather corny to me at the time. I'm not saying HHNF is bad, just that lyrically it didn't impress me and the beats were uneven. I can only listen to coke rap if it's done interestingly

That's some dope, funny shyt.

i truly think it boils down to their pipsqueak voices. they sound like people you could handle in an arm wrestling match don't they?

i like super hero mc's.

this also may come off "elitist", though I think that term has been abused on this site lately, but i'm skeptical of MC's who have never rhymed over the Pete Rock's, The Premo's etc.

if you really wanna make your bones on some east coast fly shyt you need to rock over those guys' beats IMO.

their voices are dope to me :manny: especially pusha.

well yea its standard shyt but the wordplay is usually pretty clever. its less conceptual than ghost/rae do, but about the same fare as something what, say, cam would rap about or something...I dunno, I always thought re-up and clipse were pretty good in a way that they could rap about coke and make it non-boring or generic...

seriously. let's juxtapose this cover with one from a guy who is everything the Clipse wish they were, shall we?

It's crazy how underrated this album. I think people kinda dismissed it because it wasn't a "big" release at the time, and was sort of overshadowed by Ghost's youtube response to its poor sales numbers.

It does have a lot to do with voice. Cam and Ghostface have the natural flow so they can pull off the lyrical cocaine talk style. When the Clipse do it they sound forced. Also Cam and Ghost have tracks with different vibes. Every Clipse track is the same fake coke talk. Every verse on HHNF is interchangeable. And thats so lame
